Meghan Markle’s former Suits co-star criticised the Sussexes yesterday for staging an interview while the world is in the ‘throes of death’.

Wendell Pierce, who worked with Meghan for four years in his role as her character’s father, said the broadcast was ‘insignificant’ as Covid death tolls continued to rise.

The 57-year-old told radio station LBC: ‘Today 3,000 people are going to die in America from Covid.

‘A couple of hundred people are going to die, even this hour, in the UK.’

Despite praising the former actress in the past, Pierce criticised Prince Harry and Meghan for the interview, saying it evoked Shakespeare’s phrase ‘full of sound and fury signifying nothing’.

The actor, who said he had not spoken to the duchess since 2019, added: ‘It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this sort of palace… gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it is insignificant.’

Asked who he included in this criticism, he said ‘everyone’ including Oprah, US network CBS, ITV, Prince Harry and Meghan, and the Palace.

And he LIKES her. IMHO, it was self-serving and tone deaf, given what's going on in the world. Smacked of ME ME ME. You left. Okay. You struggle to get by on $40 million. Alrighty. Everyone wronged you, but you wronged no one. Got it.

I would say it was ill-timed, but I think they wanted to take advantage of the current Culture of Victimhood, lest it fade away and they miss their chance.

Meghan didn't "turn Piers down", as he wasn't asking her for anything. They were friendly acquaintances for about a year, and then she suddenly dropped him right after getting involved with Prince Harry. If you've researched Meghan Markle, you know she has a pattern of abruptly dropping and ghosting people, both friends and family.

Because of his personal experience with her, he always saw her as a social climber and untrustworthy, although he was still supportive of her during the engagement period, before she disowned her father right before the wedding because he made a poor choice dealing with the paparazzi. That's when his criticism of her began. Before the wedding, you can see lots of GMB & other interview clips of Piers saying that Meghan will probably be a good thing for Harry & the royal family, despite the fact that even then he mentioned that she had ghosted him.

Exactly he has mentioned this for the longest time. She was so eager to hang out with him because he was the more famous of the two of them at the time. They were friends and she asked him for help getting introductions to the media, and influential people he knew.

Then, when she met the bigger fish, his "friendship" and help no longer needed, she ghosted him.

His story is quite believable when balanced against the fact that she has done that to, approximately every single other person she has ever known :rotfl2:

Yes, despite them wanting a private life, all it has done is put them (back) on the front of newspapers in many countries and the world.

I doubt very much they wanted a private life. They came to Canada saying that, and when people actually left them alone they moved to the US. They tried to get in the news a few times but the area of BC they chose was pretty quiet and the neighbours didn't allow stalkers there.

And now this interview while his grandfather is in hospital? These two have gone too far...but remember people eventually forgot about ex-king Edward too, even though he also tried to remain a celebrity.

Right. Here is a mid-2018 Piers Morgan interview about Meghan from shortly before her wedding. You can tell from this that he wasn't personally bitter and didn't hate her, even though she had ghosted him. He was quite complimentary on the whole, although even then he didn't fully trust her because of how she treated him.

Funny how the "leave her alone" and "people are so mean" crowd don't have any scruples about ganging up on Piers...

Just when I thought the rabbit hole couldn't get any deeper, in comes Piers Morgan.
Wendell Pierce, brilliant!
Mr. Markle: “If I don’t hear from [Megan and Harry] in 30 days, I’ll do a story for the press. When they start talking to me, I’ll stop talking to the press.” <----- This is toxic and manipulation and I can see why M&H cutoff here.

But they cut everybody off after they've drained them dry. Humans are often flawed. H&M should take a long hard look in the mirror.

In 1940, Nassau, Bahamas was just about far enough away to send them.

Yes, Vancouver Island is an ideal, quiet environment. (Maybe too quiet for H&M.)

It all reminds me of the nature of Hollywood.

Like in Las Vegas, when Howard Hughes was staying long term in a hotel and the management tried make their guest move on. Howard Hughes promptly bought the hotel and stayed there.

So: was it right for the hotel to ask HH to move on? or was it right instead for HH to buy the hotel?

Rather than finding definitive answers to these specific questions, it's more a question of figuring the nature of Las Vegas.

Like figuring the nature of Hollywood also.

What amazes me is that Harry had the nerve to mention the racist comment about Archie's skin. He thought nothing of dressing as Hitler, the king of racists, for a Halloween party.
Yes, Harry was 20, but he was old enough to know better! Seems like a double standard to me.
I'll bet this topic was off limits for the Oprah interview.

Well...Hitler also bombed the crap out of Britain and tried to starve them out. He's infamous on so many levels. Really poor form to dress up as him, even at 20.

The other issue is that by making the racism allegation and saying that it was one person but they won't say who, they're painting all of the family with the same brush (tbh I thought it would be Philip). When you have one family member who makes comments you don't like, you don't plaster it on social. If you want to do something about it, you take it up privately with another family member -- most of us would just try to limit our time with that one person.

Exactly. This whole episode is just like the Me Too Movement in Hollywood. The rich and powerful stifle those to are trying to out their misdeeds. That is how people like Jeffrey Epstein were able to get away with so much for so many years.

A body language analist here in NL had a look at the interview, his money is on Charles. Harry was extremely uncomfortable talking about his father and friendlier about his brother.

My money is on Phillip (even when they deny it), as he has a history with saying very blunt things (to phrase it mildly), he is from a different time (not excusing it) and he is on his deathbed, even when he was not in the hospital yet at the time of the interview, the man is on his last legs. Saying it now, would be extremely poor taste and leave a permanent stain on his legacy.

If it is Charles, I just cannot imagine it was meant as racist as they have experienced it, but more a curiosity as described in this thread earlier. I think it is unlikely it was Kate, Camilla or Anne, as they are not as close with Harry as Charles and William. The closer this gets, the more painful it is.

It's hard for me to believe that the Queen, Phillip or Charles said it in a racist way. If they were racist, they had the power to tell Harry he would need to step down from the monarchy, if he married Meghan. They definitely wouldn't have accepted her, then not accepted a child from their bloodline.

To be fair, Phillip wasn't in hospital when they recorded the interview. However when Orpah visited them at their home the next day, Meghan did say she had called to see how Prince Phillip was as he was sick.
There were call in the UK newspapers for the interview to not be broadcast while Prince Phillip is still in hospital, but obviously that didn't happen.

This is a perfect illustration why you just don't make an accusation like that and refuse to name names. Because this is where it ends up.

Which to me shows how tone deaf she is. She calls up to be all nice knowing full well that she was about to blow up his world. You'll notice they didn't announce until the next day that it wasn't him or the Queen. I at least hope they kept all of this from him in the hospital. Such a shame that the Queen had to deal with all of this while dealing with her husband of 70 years in the hospital.

The show must go on. And all that.

Oprah said on whatever show Gayle King is on that M&H confirmed it was not Phillip or the Queen who made the remark about how dark Archie's skin might be. So, that really only leaves Charles or William as the ones who may have said it as they're the only other real stakeholders in that family. I'd find it hard to believe William would say something like that to his brother, or even care enough about something like that. Seems like something an older more traditioned man that will be assuming the throne in the near-ish future would say (assuming the remark is true).

Did they say it was part of the inner circle?

Once again, this is exactly why presenting this the way they did was so wrong. Because it ends up with all this speculation and guessing.
