we had planned on celebrating our twins 6th bday in disney in nov but due to everyones schedules we had to bump it up by 2 weeks, is it still ok to "celebrate" their bday even though its really not.?we had planned on getting them a bday pin at town hall, doing a cake at one of the restaurants etc. but i feel like its kinda wrong...? anyones opinion on this?

It's not wrong. You can celebrate their birthday even if it's not the exact birthday. Just tell the CM's that you are celebrating it today. Most people have birthday parties on days other than the actual birthday, this would be the same thing IMO.

Nah, you really won't be "cheating" Disney out of anything except a cupcake or two and some happy greetings. :)

I have a Christmas birthday (Dec 19), and we were always out of school before it. I always had a party before school let out for the holiday. Have fun!!

The only thing that requires proof that it's THE day is the stuff about the free birthday admission and other choices for that.

Other than that, all they care about is celebration. Are you celebrating their birthday? Yes? Go for it! :)

We have done it. My daughter was 7 and did not want to "lie" so we specifically said we were "celebrating" her b'day, not that it "was" her b'day, since we could not be there the actual day. She was fine with that. If you see the Dapper Dans on Main Street, make sure they see the b'day buttons - they sang Happy Birthday to her in the middle of Main St! It was great!

if it's the only way you can do it then sure, I think it's ok.

As long as you aren't expecting the free Birthday perks( which you can't get anyway)..then go ahead! We are going to WDW a few weekss before my daughters BDay and we are celebrating it while we are there

CELEBRATE! Don't think twice about it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE!!!

I don't see a problem with it. It's like having a birthday party on the Saturday after your birthday because its difficult to do to throw a party in the middle of the week.

I don't see where this is "lying" about their birthdays.

You're not saying that day is their birthday and you're not expecting to get something for free. You're celebrating their birthday on another day. I assumed most people do this for parties and such. Kids' birthdays don't fall on the weekend every year.

We celebrated DH's graduation at Disney, but we didn't get there until the day after the graduation. ;)

Enjoy your trip. :goodvibes

Nope...I think it's fine!! We're doing that for our DD as well. We were going to be there on her birthday (October 14th) but then realized how much money we would save going a month earlier. We get value rates on the room as well as free dining. It will make for a much nicer birthday celebration for her (more character meals) so we went for it. She knows she'll be celebrating a month early. While making reservations and ADR's wer were asked what we would be celebrating, not is anyone having a birthday. I told her we are celebrating our daughter's birthday. Go on early and have a great time!!!

I'm glad you asked this! Our twin DS's birthday falls on Thanksgiving day this year - we will be leaving the next day for WDW - I was hoping I could still get them Birthday buttons to celebrate thier special day! :thumbsup2

Yep, we're clear about the difference between having our birthday AT Disney and celebrating it at Disney, one kid has a new year's eve birthday (now THAT's a story for ya!) and one has an 8/18 birthday which is right when school starts, so we usually try and go "around" the birthdays and do a birthday celebration.

The girls always say "I turn X on the 18th or 31st, but we're celebrating it in Disney today!

We get the pin, and they only get to wear it for the one day they celebrate it in Disney. We call them "real" birthdays and "disney" birthdays. :wizard:

The girls love it when the CM's say "happy birthday princess" or "happy birthday (girl's name)-that's what does it for them, not free stuff. I think we got a balloon once, but we don't expect it.

When they celebrate their birthday back home they wear the pin :cloud9:.

ETA: We are also celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary in Sept this year, even though it is in Aug. Last year for our 15th we were able to celebrate it in Disney ON THE DAY (it was simply awesome) but due to work this year we had to bump it out a month. We're "saving" the celebration of it until the trip, though!

Thats not wrong at all. If the trip is for their Birthdays then you are celebrating their Birthdays. My DS Birthday is late March and due to school he can never celbrate his Birthday there, I plan to take him in early March one year at spring break just so he can say he celebrated his Birthday at Disney. :thumbsup2

Not wrong at all!!! For a variety of reasons we never get there on our actual birthdays, but we usually go smack in the middle of DD's bday and my bday (two weeks after hers, two weeks before mine) and consider that a bday celebration for both of us.

I'm sure there are some out there that disagree, and I ran into her on our last trip! We got bday pins at check in and were wearing them in the park when a lady came up to me and said in a real snarky/sarcastic way, "wow, you and your daughter have the same birthday, that's amazing. What are the chances of that?" So I told her no, we don't have the same bday we're just celebrating on this trip. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I was so embarassed.

Don't be embarrassed. Feel bad for somebody who goes through life p*ssing on other people's happiness...

We're going to be leaving WDW on my son's 2nd bday which is Feb 12th and my 14 yo DS will be 15 Feb 21st. We plan to celebrate both birthdays that week and I don't consider it lying at all.

As a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, I've always made an ordeal out of having my UNBIRTHDAY when we've had to celebrate my birthday on a day other than the one I was born on. At 32 years old, when my friends and I go out for drinks to celebrate my birthday (or even theirs now) if it's not on the actual day, we have a wonderful Unbirthday Party and everyone just thinks it's awesome! What better place to explain that than at WDW! We'll be having an Unbirthday Week for my boys while we're in The World for sure! You can't take advantage of the FREE birthday gift card or FPs or admission unless you prove it's you're birthday so celebrate for your twins! When we return home, my 2 yo will be having a little party the following weekend and that won't be on his actual birthday but he will celebrate with family and friends who weren't with him in WDW on the 12th!

Cute Tech Snow White! ;) Well, not sure about the Tech part...but ya know.

I sure hope it's okay. When DH asked what I wanted for my 30th birthday, I said "a longer trip to disney" of course! We had already booked free dining bounceback, and I called and added a total of 5 extra nights to our package. I will also be celebratin at Narcossee's as my birthday dinner.

Free Dining= September with smaller crowds and less heat.
My actual birthday is the very end of July= AWFUL heat and large crowds. I would be crazy not to wait 5 weeks to celebrate (and it's only 3 weeks before DH's b-day)
