Is it ok to laminate your disney tickets?

I bought tickets from undercovertourists and received them yesterday. I remember when we bought our tickets from Disney a few years ago, they were plastic like credit cards. These tickets I just got are made of paper-I'm a little concerned about their durability-they are 7 day no expire tickets! I don't want them to get ruined. Can I laminate them? :bounce: Is it ok to laminate my tickets?

Nooo! They wont go through the ticket scanner. The tickets themselves, although they feel like paper, are actually made of a new material (I'm sure someone knows what it's called) which is very durable...I keep mine in my wallet year round, incase I find myself in Orlando on business and need a little WDW fix! :teeth:

The tickets look like paper, but they are actually a Tyvek paperboard. They are very durable and won't get ruined. If you have ever gotten one of those Fed Ex or UPS envelopes that are impossible to tear, those envelopes are made with a similar material in a more flexible format.

If you laminate them, the magnetic strip on the back can't be read by the machine, so they won't work.

Just echoing others in saying that they are very durable.

I've seen a lot of folks keeping them in lanyards worn around the neck, that I think can be purchased just about anywhere in WDW.

Well, I don't know about durable...we've got AP's that we used for 5 days so far & they look so beat.

Think it depends on how many FP's you get.;)

Yes, we kept them in lanyard holders but...

I scanned copies, front & back, figure if we lose them or they do deteriorate; we can get them replaced.

Mine usually survive 4-6 months of heavy use before I get a replacement. You'll be more than fine for seven days.

With AP's, all you need to do is show ID to get them replaced. You don't need copies.

Yeah, Annual pass information is always saved in WDW computers.

I honestly don't understand how people have ticket problems. I carried a ticket in my wallet for at least 6 months, and it's still fine, scans fine to this day. It even survived a trip into a swimming pool - whole wallet and and all.

In 15 years of trips to WDW, I've had both Tyvec and plastic tickets, and I've had both KTTW cards, which are thick plastic, and Park Hoppers from the Disney Store, which are thin plastic.

In all that time, I've never had a ticket demagnetize, never had one rip, tear, or crack, never lost one, never had the printing wear off of one.

Simple precautions will keep any kind of ticket safe for a week. In fact, I have kept APs for the whole year and used them for as much as 17 park days on multiple trips, and I still have those APs, in perfect condition.

Just be careful, keep your tickets in a lanyard, and they will easily last the whole 7 days.

Yep, this is exactly correct. Tyvek is actually more durable than the plastic ones as the plastic ones will crack. Disney switched from the plastic because they had to replace so many.

Do not laminate.

Honestly - it does happen for unknown reasons.... not by fault of the ticket holder.

DD and I have annual passes, and on three occasions recently DDs ticket has been de-magnetized. It is kept with mine in a pass holder, away from cell phones, etc. etc. Once we enter the park they are put back in the holder, and only take out for FPs!

They are replaced quickly by the CMs! It has happened at MK, EPCOT and MGM!

We use the tickets weekly, and they don't wear out, but for some reason the tickets assigned to DD are giving us a hassle... It's become quite a joke at this point! She didn't like the first ticket assigned to her, so the next one was good - but the same as mine.... the last two have been the same SOARIN' and she is happy!

:scratchin I followed the link from SeashoreCM's post above and found the following info:

Hint from a Disneyinfo (disboards.com) forum contributor: Photocopy twice all airplane tickets, park tickets, passes, vouchers, reservation confirmations, both sides. Leave one copy at home, bring the other copy with you but keep it safe (in a room safe if possible). This will help if the tickets themselves get lost. Writing down the numbers and codes on the back using pencil and paper is OK also.

I'm wondering how writing down the numbers and codes (which are the same on mine and my husband's tickets) will help us if something happens to them. Once we go through the Disney gates and our hands are scanned (or whatever happens), I can see the ticket being linked to me, but I'm guessing that you take on the responsibility if it is lost before use.

I just couldn't pass up the convention rates from our organizer (yes, I am actually attending a convention there!). :surfweb:

Only time I have had a ticket replaced for damage (not just demagnetization) is when it got wet at Typhoon Lagoon and my friend tried to iron it.

Honestly, if it had just been allowed to dry out it would have been fine.

Ok to be clear..

When you get a package, hotel room keys.. are hard plastic right? Not this tyvek stuff..

Right?

J

Should be on your resort ID.

GracieA7 - odd, I looked @ our AP's & the last 3 numbers are different on the back of our tix. Do your tix expire?

Oh, I see the difference now...

I really need to lighten up on my cold medicine :rotfl2:

The last 3 numbers on the back of all passes will be different.

If it's a paper ticket:
Transaction number (Black square) Station location, station #, date, ticket number

If it's plastic, but NOT room key, it's at the top:
Transaction #, date, station location, station number, ticket number

Transaction #, station and station number and date can all be the same, but ticket number will always be different, even if it is re-printed.

Right. Your resort room key will be hard plastic.
