... this is part of my sons costume for MHP. He's going to be Peter Pan and he has this plastic sword about a 8" in length. Not sharp at all, of course. The tip however is a bit pointy but not dangerous. Not sure if this is permitted?

TIA

Nope, it's not allowed. No "weapons" of any kind, including toy accessories for costumes.

Although, they do sell those plastic swords AT DL, so it seems there is a gray area in this policy.

If you are going for the party, though, remember that your child needs his hands free for trick or treating, not sword wielding. ;)

All costumes must be child-friendly and not obstructive, offensive or violent.
Masks are allowed but may not obstruct vision (eyes must be visible at all times.)
Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for photos or sign autographs for other guests.
Costumes may not drag on the ground.
Costumes may not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.
Costumes may not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon (light sabers and Astro-blasters are exempt.)

Disney's policy on costumes...

Back in early Sept my 6 year old was wearing a pirate themed dress and took her pirate sword into both DL and California ad it was in plain view of security.......... The one at security even commented on her outfit.I guess it just depends on the cast members? pirate:

Really? LOL. pirate: Might as well bring his sword and wait for someone to notice it

Our Peter Pan had a pretty big dagger in her belt, but no one said anything about it, so I would assume it's kind of up to whoever you happen to encounter. I wouldn't say it was totally realistic, but we all knew it wasn't real...but since she was a part of our group, that doesn't really count.

I would say bring it, and if you have to, just put it away in a bag.
