Is it obnoxious to call MS everyday??

I had a "last minute" change to my Thanksgiving vacation and had to book anew (was going with family they cancelled). I have SSR the first three nights, paying cash for SSR the 4th night then BLT the 5th night then back to SSR for the last night. I am waitlisted at SSR and BLT for the 4th night so I don't have to pay cash but I would really like to get my trip down to one move or SSR for the whole trip.

So my question-- is obnoxious to call every day to see if BLT has became available for the last night or if SSR has become available for he 5th night. I have seen on here that people say that if you call while waitlisted you have better chances--so I guess I should be asking about that too? Do they just run wait lists at the end of the day? I assume there is no down side to calling everyday but I just wanted to check. What time of day is good to call? Are rooms released over night? Or should I wait until later in case people cancel?

Thanks!!

hi Carla I am a Carla too:goodvibes. I personally would just wait it out with the waitlist but that is me. I couldn't be bothered to call everyday.

There is no problem calling every day. Since you are limited to only 2 wait lists, there is no way to cover all the possibilities since there are 3 views at BLT and the room at SSR, which would be 4.

I would wait list two of the options and then call every day to try to secure one of the other ones.

For example, I might WL BLT LV and SSR. Then call each day to see if BLT SV or MK view opened up for that one night or whether your cash night is now available on points. Once you are able to secure something, either by wait list or calling, you can adjust things to get the other nights covered.

Good luck!

I do call when I think about and have time...it's not everyday, but maybe a couple times a week. It does pay off to call more frequently closer to the date if it's workable...the CRO rooms get released at around the 7 day mark.
Called everyday the week before Christmas last year and each day I got one more day added to our BWV stay.

No problem call a much as you have time for.

I sure hope its not obnoxious, I place many a call to the fine folks at MS :)

Good luck on your wait list, I agree with calling often to check on the other views/options for your trip, I hope it works out!

The way I figure it is that its your vacation and you are trying to do the very best you can to make it special. If that means calling daily to try and get a room, that's your business (definitely no judgments here - LOL). :goodvibes When I booked my December, 2010 vacation, I actually called MS daily for 21 days, first to walk my reservation and then to extend it out to the full 14 nights. I felt a little silly doing it but I also wanted to do everything I could to ensure that I was going to get exactly what I wanted. And, for what its worth, not once did a CM comment about my calling every day or making so many changes - they were super gracious and sweet about everything. Happy planning! :goodvibes

I just called to add dining to my 2011 trip and she said "oh I see your waitlist came thru". I don't if that happened because I called or would it of happened anyway. I just happy :)

For what you are paying, it is fine for you to call as much as you want. It is our payments and due keeping the CMs there, so call until yiu get what you want...or keep trying. ;)

Well I feel very differently. But no I don't feel it's obnoxious. :goodvibes And I wish you success in actuallly getting your desired vacation - but IN GENERAL (not directed at you Carla - for us all) I do have an issue with everyday calling for two reasons. (Well three - :lmao: - my God some of the MS CMs must be so over it! ;);))

I guess I see all these daily WL calls as putting all our dues up in the end. Plus if there is a snag in the waitlist system - ie. that daily calling produces sudden "it's here" regardless of where any of us are on the list - then it needs to be fixed. That's insane. I have no other word for it.

Also, I just want to put out that I waitlisted for Christmas/NYE week and got my three days two weeks ago for AKV Standard - Jambo. I knew that I was very early on the list as only one day was missing at seven months. So the WL - without calling - worked. It's nice to hear and share a success story in an obviously somewhat flawed WL system. Good news for us all.

I would certainly call every day (and have). It's your money, your time, your vacation. When i had a similar situation, i felt it was my obligation to my family to get the best for us... so i say call. Hope it works out for you. It did for me.

this is so true:sad2:either the waitlist rules apply or they don't

Wonder if they've evaluated that, after the 11 month booking window, all phone requests would go directly to 'waitlist', letting the computer figure it out;) wouldn't it only take a day to find out using that method:confused3?

probably not fair to put the blame of long wait times to speak to MS soley upon those who call daily hoping to go to the head of the class, but it's a distinct possibility.

call volume dictates staffing for the call center. Perhaps members should have to pay a surcharge for more than a few calls a month:confused:

I'm trying to call too for our pre-thanksgiving trip. We are in SSR and waitlisted for 2 places ... but I'm still calling once a week to see if anything else opens up at any other resort.

In the time I called, OKW opened up for 3 of the 4 nights we need but we don't want to move at all. Everything else was still booked.

So I say call -- personally, I wouldn't (and don't) do it everyday but I might as it gets around the 31-30 day mark.

Each time my waitlist has come thru it has not been do to a call from me, I check the website daily if Im wailisted. Just my method..I know many others call daily and attribute their success for waitlist to this...haven't had that experience. I have also had wailist not come thru and did do a call as it neared the 30 days to gauge whether I wanted to extend it or stay with what I had..just not an everyday person. Good luck with your quest.

We have wait listed twice with no calling and both came through. What is interesting is that they are notoriously difficult to get. One was for AKV Concierge and the other for BCV. Both came through just a couple weeks before checkin.

what a member's gotta do. Do what feels right to you, to ease your anxiety;)
