Is it just me?

I took my kids to a LSS to do a "2 page layout" as part of the kid's club summer program. They displayed 2 different "2 page layouts" in the store. When we got to the class it turned out to be 2 layouts, but on one piece of 12x12 cardstock (one on each side). We were disappointed to say the least. We've never done a layout on both sides of the cardstock -- are we just wierd or what?? We were expecting 2 pieces of 12x12 that faced each other. The teacher explained that their examples were actually meant to be 4 different layouts to choose from.

Your thoughts??

Cheap! and nasty! I wouldn't be impressed either. That's very poorly done and I would certainly complain.
That's not a 2 page layout. That's a sample of 2 - 1 page layouts and you can only really use one of them.
Big raspberry to that LSS!! :sad2:

Whew! I thought I was the only one w/that opinion!! Thanks for the "back-up".

I don't know anyone who uses the front and back of a scrapbook paper. :( Can you carefully take off one side of the layout and put it on a separate piece of paper?

Actually, what I ended up doing was help the kids to be very frugal with the accent paper they gave us (it was the last available in the store) to use and bought 2nd pages of matching cardstock so that we can complete the 2nd page at home. I'm just glad that I went with the kids so that I could "think" for them and make it work out. But is shouldn't have had to be that way!!

What the heck? That just isn't right. I would certainly request a refund because that is very misleading and isn't a 2 page layout at all. Either that or the teacher is seriously dilusional.

I understand how you feel. At the scrapbook convention I attended a couple of weeks ago, I had the same experience with 2 of my classes. One class--a tag class--I was so excited about. We were to learn how to make all different kinds of tags and would leave the class with 8 tags finished. Well that class ended up being just a put a sticker on cardstock and cut around it in the shape of a tag. I think the only thing extra was to tie a ribbon around the bottom of the "tag". A complete waste of the $18 I paid! I thought I really would learn some new and innovative ideas for making tags. Wrong!

The other class I was really disappointed in was an "organization class". I don't mean any offense to any CMC's here, but this class could have taken place at the CM booth. I paid $10 for this class, and I almost got up and walked out, I was that upset. The organization ideas were merely given as a sales pitch for the CM products--no other storage or organization ideas were offered. I'm not against the CM products. I bought the wavy cutter and almost bought the oval cutting system too. But that was after a demo at their booth at which they were also giving demos of their organizational products. The class was not described either online or in the program anywhere as being a CM class. I would not have taken it had it been so. I felt like I could get the same info at the booth for free. I left the class with no new ideas for organization apart from those given for purchasing their product. We were also encouraged to buy up to a certain amount in order for someone in the class to win a prize.

I hope I haven't upset any CMC's or anyone else for that matter, but I think we should have been told ahead of time what this class would be about.

I'm still thinking I should contact the people who put this convention on and let them know, but I'm still upset about it, and I probably shouldn't talk when I'm upset. I guess you can tell from this post how I feel.

Unbelievable! The wholesale on most flat patterned paper is between 25¢ and 35¢. So if there were 15 kids in the class it would have cost the store less than $10 to do it the "right" way.
