I was watching the new WDW commercials with the dogs running around and my wife pointed out they had the dog laying in bed in a hotel room.Don't you think Disney is sending the wrong message here..or is it just me ???

It sort of makes the daily fee for the kennel seem quite reasonable, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

Eveytime the commercials come on my DH gets annoyed. He complains loudly its false advertising. We just got our dog so he's a little sensitive about the topic :goodvibes

I feel the same way, and mentioned it to DH. Buster would love to come with us to a WDW resort!

I agree! I am glad someone mentioned this. I love to see WDW commercials in general, however, the one's with the dogs drives me nuts. I can picture people that have never been there, going wow, we can bring our dogs??
I would think with the intelligent and creative people working for Disney, that could have come up with better marketing than this. Didn't mean to rant, it's just something that annoys me.

Just as they having smoking and non smoking units, they should offer pet and non pet units. I would LOVE to have the option of a pet unit. But I bet they would go quickly. Thats the only thing wrong with our vacations, having to say good bye to our boys'.

This from the same people that airbrushed out Spaceship Earth view from BCV photo's? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Talk about being conflicted!!

I felt exactly the same way and already wrote an email to WDW!

I don't think the general public will misinterprete the meaning of the commercial. I seriously doubt the masses are jumping up and down say "we can take fido,we can take fido" .

yes - it is sad - that it shows pets in the MK....

I don't think Spicey would like the parks....

he does love the kennel

but I think the parks might be too loud for him.

However I would love to take him to my room.....

there is a timeshare in Kissimmee that allows pet - Celebration World Resort - it is an RCI timeshare and the pet charge for a full week is only $50 more!!!

so there are some!!!

of course there is also the opposite view. My SIL did not like animals - then she got a dog - I mean she takes this animal with her everywhere. When they come to visit this dog comes.

I take Spicey but I realize that most people don't want him in their houses or near them. So he stays in the car - or on a lease.

this dog run wilds - now on the whole he is well behaved - but when someone invited you to their house -they aren't inviting your pet too....

Next they'll remake the movie "My Life as a Dog" under the title "My Wife as a Dog."

I don't think it's a leap to see a dog on the bed of a Disney Resort and think you can take your pet.

The only reason we dont have a pet is because we cant take it to WDW with us and we like to go too much and would not have anyone to care for it and our pet would be too traumatized to stay in a kennel (based on our last pet and the travel issues we had).

If we could take a pet to DVC, I'd go out today and get a maltese!

Wow...I didn't even view the 'dog in a hotel room' as misrepresentation. I just thought it was a cute commercial with a dog daydreaming as a human would. :confused3

If the commercial showed fido on the bed with kids or people in the background, I'd be concerned. But as I recall, the commercial doesn't show a single person. I didn't find it misleading.

Is Spicey a cat or dog? I see the picture of the cat so thats what I am guessing he is. I wondered how the kennels would be for cats. We usually get someone to come and feed our guys while we are away, but I am wondering if they might like the kennel better. Providing of course they wouldn't hate the plane ride. I would be open to take them if they could ride in the cabin with us and not be checked. I have heard terrible storys of mishap.

I'm all for pets, but please no pets in the resorts!

Holy cow, can you see the threads now...."I requested a non-pet room and I got one that smelled like cat urine, or wet dog....."

Then we would have to decide how many of the H/A rooms would be pet rooms, and how many of the smoking rooms would be pet rooms, and how many of the H/A rooms were smoking and pet rooms.....Oh My Goodness!

Please no pets in the resorts!

Alexander, you are so right on. I know most folks probably won't go running out the door, dogs under their arms, off to WDW, but ya never know, a couple of folks may . And with all the h/c, non h/c smoking/ns controversy, can you imagine the pet controversy????

I LOVE the dog commercials! I feel they are just using a dog "family" to portray a human family in a cute and entertaining way! I think its hilarious that the "dad" dog packs light and then look at everthing the "mom" dog packs. And the commercial that features a scene similar to Lady and the Tramp reminds me of when my DH and I went to WDW without kids. It was so romantic just like that commercial. Maybe I'm slow but it never crossed my mind when I saw these commercials that I could now take dogs to my resort room or on the rides at MK! I just applauded the creative minds in Disney's marketing department for coming up with such an imaginative marketing progam. JMHO.

I thought the dog "family" was cute. I never actually thought that I could bring my dog with me to WDW. Except of course in the kennels! :flower:
