WE did breakfast there last year and dinner there this year and they are both good. I wasn't a big fan of the tonga toast so I wouldnt go ther ejust for that but all their food is good!
Kona is our must do, I will go out of my way to eat breakfast here. The pressed pot coffee along is worth it, the best fruit plate I ever had, killer eggs benny, great everything!!
This is a favorite of mine no matter what meal. As for the Tonka Toast keep in mine if you get it with the sugar coating it can be very sweet. Since I am diabetic I request it without and they are very respectful of my request. The food here is very ggod and the coffee is the best in WDW IMHO. My second choice was Concourse Steakhouse but now it is gone so I don't know if the new place "The Wave" will be same.
We loved Kona for breakfast! My DH has the tonga toast and boy he nearly licked his plate clean. He's a HUGE coffee drinker and was impressed by the coffee they served there. It was a very enjoyable meal as the food was great! We'll eat there again when we go back! You know, we ate dinner there too and it was fantastic!
The breakfast is great; but I agree with the other poster who said you may want to think twice if you're not staying at a nearby resort--especially if you're also trying to get to a park early that day. Feeling rushed can put a damper on things, no matter how good the food.
It used to be one of our favorite spots until they redid the menu. Took away the Calabash breakfast. The tonga toast is good, huge portion...very very sweet. Definately not the best thing on the menu, but, worth trying once!
We have eaten dinner at Kona Cafe and really enjoyed it.
We had Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's last year. Not sure if it is identical to what is served in Kona Cafe but my son and I are still recovering from the sugar fix. It was just too sweet for our taste.
NO! I don't drink coffee either!! HA! As a matter of fact, when I was preggo with my son (now 3 1/2 yr. old), I couldn't tolerate the smell of coffee. Sadly, my dh HAD to have coffee each morning or he would be crazy! So, I would gag all morning (thankfully not throwing up though) while my dh enjoyed his cup of joe! HA! We have ressies at Kona while we are going to WDW and my dh is already thrilled about the rumors of delicious coffee....argh!!
I don't like anything with just the smallest hint of coffee flavor! So I really don't get it when people MUST stop at starbucks every single morning!
I have always wanted to try Kona, but have never made it there. If I was feeling like trying something new, I would try the Tonga Toast. Otherwise, I would get the big Kahuna breakfast. It looks really good from the pictures I have seen on here.
Kona is a great breakfast spot. It's our family tradition to eat breakfast there on the last day of our trip. We've been doing it for 20 years or more, long before it was the Kona Cafe.
As for the Tonga Toast, its the only thing on the menu I won't eat. I think its disgusting. Just way too sweet.
I did not like the Tonga toast...(I know-I am in the monority)...but I LOVE THE PRESS POT COFFEE!!!! Does anyone know if you can get the press pot at the Ohonas character breakfast?
