Since I returned from the week at Disney I have been having a beast of a time getting back into training for the Goofy. Is anyone else having issues with motivation? Or is it just me?

It didn't help that I left warm weather here, went to warmer weather there and have returned to 30 degree weather.

I have felt sore and tired since I got back. So here is the game plan. I'm resting today, easy walking for a couple of miles tomorrow and then Monday it's back to training again.

Would anyone care to air out their pity party with me, get it out of the way and get back to taking care of business?

I have plenty of motivation. If I could shake this bloody cold, I could get out there and get something done.

I feel pretty good today and am planning a run for tomorrow.

Dave: I feel your pain. Since my return, my warmest workout has been 50 degrees and that was at 2 p.m. :sad2: My plantar fasciitis has been flaring up since I got back and 3 miles is about it for me right now so I have been having my own pity party way up North. Right now, it is about 40 and we are waiting for Noel to blow through so it is dreadmills or nothing for me today. So I am busily :laundy: and baking for the week and trying to forget that my foot aches and it is about to pour buckets and blow the lights out.

Vic: Hope the snot factory dries up soon. That has got to be a real bummer.

Lisa I hope you get your mojo back soon to. We need all our pretty princesses fit and sassy for the January events.

Vic, be kind and don't sneeze on the keyboard. Get better my friend.

Dave- I'm feeling ok, but that's probably because I slowly walked the 6.5k at ToT and while I was happy to be "racing" with DD, I really wanted to be moving faster! I blew off my LR on Sunday (travel day) and had lots of guilt about basically missing training the whole weekend.

I just signed up for the Jax Bank Half. It's Dec 16 and is the right mileage for the day. I thought I needed another short term goal that I can wrap my head around since Goofy is lurking in the distance... There are a few 5ks I may do, but I don't know how well they fit in my training plan. (I've done it before, but how realistic is it to think I'll finish a scheduled 10 or whatever after running hard in a 5k?!)

Oh, and as far as being sore, my feet were killing me before the ToT even started. We did MK and Epcot that day and didn't rest much, but it was still a slow pace compared to my usual Disney madness. My feet/legs hurt for a couple of days, and again, I didn't do the 13k like you did!

You'll be fine!:cheer2:

I haven't run at all since I got back. I have been having some problems with my hip. It hurts like heck almost constantly, except for when I am running. After TOT on Saturday I decided to take this week off, and will start again on Monday. Luckily the hip pain has almost completely subsided and I will be able to start right where I left off.

I am finally moving and I've had problems getting it going since Minnie.

I WISH that you've got your act more together than I had mine. I know your plan will work. With all your training I think that this week off is a good thing. You'll be most energized and ready to take it into January.

Lily I'm kinda freaking about the Goofy being only 10 weeks away. I'm in half shape but a half and the full the next day is a tad scary.

Dana: It almost sounds like your hip flexors are locked. Is the hip pain in the front or the back. If it is in the front, it is definitely your hip flexors from sitting too long. You may want to try some stretches in that case. Hope you heal up soon and get back to running. :goodvibes

I may not be running very far but at least I am out there. Oh, and this morning, the wind is blowing a gale and it is 26 degrees. :scared1: Got to get out today though as it is the only hunter-free day!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared:

Dave, I am dreading the wind and cold of Wyoming, the tread mill is very boaring to me.

I want to drop 20 pounds before the 1/2.

During the this trip I pulled a muscle ot irritated a tendon and have been nursing that puppy, tomorrow will be the test.

Lisa, I have a fixed SI joint and really tight hipflexor (not sure if they are locked? How can you tell?) that is causing my patella to track to the outside.

Do you have any stretches that could help?

Your quads would be sore and into your hip if your flexors are locked. Sometimes it goes into your calves believe it or not. The maltracking patella is usually a sign of a tight ITB band. My SIL is a therapist and I can get the appropriate stretches for that if you would like. I can PM them to you later today. :surfweb:

That would be so great! Thanks Lisa.

I had to back out of MCM a few weeks ago because of this problem. Walking doesn't seem to irritate it that much, so I have been walking, pool running and cycling, but I want to run.:guilty:

I'm out with PF so I hear you. Pool running is good, cycling, elliptical if you can. Stretching is the key I have to say. It has helped me soooo much with the PF. You may want to consider a physical therapy referral if you can get one. I will get some stretches from SIL and get back to you.

I'm starting to feel much better. I had some extra sleep last night and will get some more tonight. I should be fine when We resume training tomorrow. Which one of you Canada folks left the darn door open and leaked your cold weather down here?

I had trouble getting back into a routine last week and I ended up taking 3 days off (vs. 1 day a week) before the Dallas Half this past Sunday. The Half ended up being hard for me. I guess all this traveling to various events 3 weekends in a row have really taken a tow on my poor, old, achy body. :charac2:
