Is it is just me or is CC not that great as it should be..

There are really two Serenity Bay's: The one that existed before the hurricanes pushed tons of sand into the bay and created that huge ugly sand bar (and destroyed almost all of the sea life), and the natural bay that existed before all that happened. On one trip (2009), DW and I counted 15 different types of star fish, and 4-5 different types of sand dollars. I have literally hundreds of pictures that I've taken while snorkeling in the old bay, but when we were there this May I never bothered to even unpack my gear - there was nothing left but sand and rocks. We just enjoyed the beach.
We saw sea life when there Sep 2014:

Love Castaway Cay, was very disjointed when we missed it on one of our cruises because of very strong cross winds for one of our cruises (six). Bugs happen, I'll put up with that vs. spraying it down with chemicals, we snorkel early knowing it will get clouded by kicked up sand over time (don't know how you can fix that), I'm okay with laying down in the water to be cooled off, don't need it to be chin deep. And I didn't even notice the abundance of rocks?

I liked it our first rew cruises, but now I can take it or leave it. I have the same feeling about pirate night.

I thought the food was really awful. We ate at serenity bay for the first time and were looking forward to the steaks and different stuff...well it was all terrible and overcooked. Especially steaks and hamburgers

That's why we eat the hot dogs.

In all our trips we never had anything but great food at Serenity bay. Even lobster a couple of times. (which was left overs from the dinner the night before, but is was still nice).AKK

Best trip to Serenity Bay was a double dip cruise. On our second stop, they were grilling lobster tails along with the steaks and other stuff. :D

Absolutely love castaway cay. Hard to imagine a better place to spend the day. We even love the food. From these boards it sounds like a lot of people are disappointed with the food, but we love it.

Big fish, Little fish, Starfish, Ray

This was cute, I kept thinking of Dr. Suess when I read this PrincessShmoo. LOL
Back on the subject though, in 10 trips to Castaway Cay, we have loved it everytime, even this last time when Serenity Bay was full of seaweed and they didn't have the sand raked, like usual. It was still a nice getaway. As for the food, it was all good to me, I especially liked the potato salad.

The only thing I (or rather the kids) don't love about CC is Scuttles Cove, which is really too bad - because I really want to try SB!

We usually do trips to Grace Bay, TCI. We're doing CC for the first time in May. As long as there's water, my daughter will love it. I'm good with some snorkeling and my wife would be thrilled just to sit and drink wine. I think we'll be ok.

I am not a "beachy" kind of person. However, I do enjoy CC, it is beautiful, and so far every time we have gone the water has been crystal clear and the food delicious. In a perfect world I would have a cabana every time we visit just so I can relax/nap without a couple thousand people walking around me. But I do think that CC is amazing and the fact that the same service and attention to detail you find on the ships carry over to the island makes it even more magical of a place. :)

you can have your own "sea day" by staying onboard... empty ship. no lines. nobody in the pools. You can't shop, though.

I love the grilled fish sandwiches on the island.

Sorry you had a bummer time. We enjoy the island and are content to sit at serenity beach all day after running the 5k.
