Is it insane to plan a 12-day trip?

I am trying to do some early planning for a WDW trip hopefully to take place in April of 2006. DS will only be in Pre-K, so I am willing to pull him out of school for as long as we need to.

I was thinking an ideal plan would be to spend 12 days in Orlando since he has never been to WDW. I figured 2 days per park = 8 park days. We would buy the 10 day MYW pass without plusses. That way, we can still spend 2 more days at the parks as needed. Then we have 2 more days to settle in, shop, rest, swim, etc.

Since he'll only be 5 1/2, we will have to take it slow and go back for naps every day. This is why I wanted to take some extra time, go when schools are in session, and get the 10 day pass.

Plus, when we've gone to DL (only 2 parks), we get the 5 day pass and use every day! :earsboy:

I don't forsee going to any non-Disney venues this time, unless DH insists ;) .

We would rent a vacation home in Kissimmee or thereabouts, rent a van and split the expenses with the grandparents. :grouphug:

Does this sound like its way too much, too long?

Just wondering what you all thought.

TIA princess:

I don't think 12 days is to long at all. Our next trip is 14 days. I would much rather relax and tour the parks than be on a tight & hectic schedule. You guys will be able to see and do alot with that amount of time.

I thought about doing a 14 day trip starting May 21-June 5, but decided that I would take two trips instead. I know that it would really be cool to spend 14 days/13 nights at WDW during the 50th celebration, but I think one 10 day/9 night visit in Feb and one 9 day/8 night visit in May is perfect.

12 days sounds heavenly. Our trips are always 8 days long and I could always use a couple more days. You're lucky - have fun!! :sunny:

My next trip is 9 nights/10days, and waitiing on Ap rates to add a couple of non-DVC days. We love the long trips!! no regrets here.

You may want to look at the rent/trade for renting from a DVC member, this can be a big savings with extra room!!

Have fun :earboy2:

12 days is a great length of time with a young child. It takes some of the pressure off. We did 12 days in 2002 and are doing 12 days in May.

Long trips no matter where you go are always nice. I find that when going for only 5 days to someplace, you really never have time to relax. It is always go go go to make sure you see everything you want.

Our last vacation which was WDW & DCL was a total of 12 days. There is so much to do, it will be nice to take your time and enjoy all of the magic. :wizard:

We did 12 days on our last disney trip! Our next one this October is going to be 2 weeks! I have 2 sets of twins and wanted to take it slow. Plus the odds of someone being sick is high with kids. I figured that if we were there long enough then we could miss a day if someone is not feeling well without ruining the entire trip! But actually no one got sick and we still did not get everything done! eeeeeeeek! ha! :confused3

Have fun and it is a great idea!!

Sounds great! I'm sure many people would love to be able to stay this long. Enjoy!! :sunny:

We just got back. 9night trip with 7 days in the parks. Definately could have stayed longer. We spent 4 days MK and 1 day in each of the other parks. There was more to see in each park and we could have swam more and gone to DTD. We have a 7, 4 and 2 year old which is why we spent so much time in MK. They loved it and could have easily done another day there too!

I think 12 days would be awesome. Rest time can be great with the kids...not to mention all the great pools to choose from! (My kids would spend all day in the pools if we would let them!) I think the fact that your 5 year old will still nap is awesome. My kids all stopped at age 2!!!! Enjoy!!

12 days sounds wonderful! We did a 10 day trip, 4 days of parks, the rest of the time exploring the resorts (AKL/Boma), checking out DTD, hanging out at the Boardwalk (loved the Surrey bike!), and even went to see a movie (it was right when Finding Nemo came out---had to get some form of Disney in that day!)

It was so nice and relaxing and I'd love to do it again.

I'd love to spend 12 days enjoying all that WDW has to offer at a nice leisurely pace. I once took 3 days from opening to closing to wander about Disneyland all by myself. The more magic time the better.
I say, Go for it! :bounce:

The longer the better! We did 28 days last summer, 21 the summer before that. This year will be at least another 28 days. My DS will be turning 4 this summer and he loves every trip more than the last. I know it sounds like a LONG time to be at Disney, but it actually goes quite fast. The nice thing is that you don't have to rush and if you want to take a day or two away from the parks it's no big deal. I recommend it to anyone who can afford the time.

Nope! We usually do 14 day trips. I can't imagine staying less then 12. There is always so much to see and do that 12 days will not be enough.

Nope, the more times we go to Disney the longer the trips get. We were there 14 nights/15 days in Nov and we are going 15 night/16 days in July. Have fun!!

Wow!! That's a long time! That's a month long! Did you get to do everything you wanted to do? OR was that enough time or still not enough? I wish I could stay there that long! But I would definitely have to stay in at least 4 different resorts!
