Is it ever easy to book DVC?

Hi. Very new here...waiting for closing documents from TTS. In the meantime, I read alot of the boards, and I'm increasingly concerned. While I expect my first vacation or two may be difficult to book since I'll be under the 11 mos mark, I'm hoping in the future bookings will be easy and quick for my home resort (BCV) at 11 mos. Am I dreaming?

You will have no problem at your home resort at 11 months.

It really depends what time of year you'll be traveling. We've gone twice during a slow season (late Sept. and late Jan.) and had no problems, even making changes within a couple of months of the trip. We even managed to snag a 2BR at BWV standard view at four months out. I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case if we had been going at a busier time of year.

We just joined DVC, and booked a studio at OKW for first week of July. We were concerned that with such short notice during prime season, it might be difficult to get a studio, but there were several options available, and of the options, we chose OKW. My first impression is, unless you want to go during a prime holiday, it shouldn't be too difficult to get reservations.

I agree with Pa - you are not going to have problems if you book your home resort at the 11 month window.

We just joined too with our home being SSR and was able to book BWV standard view studio at 7 months in mid Sept. I realize that is a slow time but am thrilled to get what I wanted.

We're new, too. Our first reservation we got Saratoga Springs in late January at three months. I know that Boardwalk was available, too (except standard view) because we almost booked that. For our second reservation, we got BWV standard view for June 18-23 at seven months. I was happily surprised we got that. Our first trip home to SSR was great.

Unless there's something really wild going on, you should have no problem booking your home resort at the 11 month window.

You probably won't have a problem booking other resorts at the 7 month window in general either. Again, time of year you travel may impact a bit sometimes.

Often, what I do is book my home resort at the 11 month window so I ma sure I have a place to stay. Then, at the 7 month window, if I want to stay elsewhere, I try to book or go on the waiting list.

Last Fall we wanted to stay at the Boardwalk in a 2BR to be close to the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. At the 11 month window I booked a 2BR @ OKW (my home resort). At the 7 month window, I started trying to book at the BWV. I got 3 of the 7 nights I wanted right away. I went on the waiting list and slowly but surely I got all the nights I wanted at the Boardwalk. Now granted, the last night came through the day before we left, but even that...worst case scenario I would have stayed at OKW for one night then moved to the BWV...not too shabby.

Don't worry, booking is generally never a huge problem.

I do understand that DVC does need some planning, but I wanted to share my availiblity stories:
Jan. -2BR - OKW - made resies 2 months out
Jan - Studio- SSR - made ressies 5 weeks out
May -VWL - 1BR - made ressies 2 months out
Oct - BCV - 2BR- made ressies 7 months out

So you can see, I am a DVC newbie, and maybe I'm just having good luck, but I have never had a problem with availabilty. All the resorts were my 1st choice, and I never had to waitlist.

if you want Dec 1-18 (weekday not weekend) - or Sept 30 - Nov 13 - food/wine festavial.(again weekday not weekend)

I would definitely book at 11 months - sometimes (dec for instant) you would might need to book day by day - instead of trying to make the whole reservation at the end.

MS is pretty good about letting you know if you need to book day by day - or can wait.

BCV is definitely the most requested of the DVC resorts. Even in the summer time (mostly off season for DVC resorts) it is generally full..... but that pool explains this!!! It is really the best pool at any of the WDW resorts.

You will be fine at 11 months. When I signed on this past October I booked a one bedroom at BWV and got it for Beginning of Dec no problem for 5 days.

no offense but early Dec is very, very hard to get.

someone must have cancelled or your guide got it for you.

there were a bunch of people on this board who were trying in Aug (last year) for Dec - and were beginning told no availability.

You were very, very lucky.....

Right after we joined, we were able to get a BCV 2-bedroom for mid-May at about five months out.

My two other reservations have been SSR, which isn't hard to get at all. In fact, just yesterday I added a day to our mid-May (we're staying at SSR for three nights, then moving to BCV for three nights) reservation without any trouble, so that was two months out.

We'll see how it goes when we try to move our December SSR reservation. Honestly, I don't think we'll have too much trouble, since we're pretty flexible with accomodations. VWL or BWV, studio or one bedroom. Or BCV as a third choice.

Like most have said... I have now book 4 times with DVC with no issue, booking either 7 months as I just did for VWL or during February vacation at VB at 5 months out. Home is SSR.

Always a 2 bedroom too!

I've been a member for over 6 years, never had a problem getting a reservation I wanted. I usually booked BWV at 11 months for early Dec and OKW for May at 7 months. I once got a BWV standard view for late April at 7 months. I got a studio at BCV for a Thursday night last month one week before.
