Is it dumb to pay for my AP now, before my Oct trip?

WOW- So is the Costco for new AP's only? We were thinking of upgrading with the tixs from this trip. I suppose using your park hoppers upgrading to an AP wouldn't work for Costco...
I am new but wondered how much it would cost to upgrade to an AP by using our Park Hoppers--(you can do that right?)

No, you couldn't upgrade from your hoppers through Costco. The cost to upgrade from a hopper to a pass is the difference between what you paid for the hopper (or the value coded on the back) and the cost of the pass. If you paid $169 for you hopper, then you pay $100 more to upgrade to a deluxe pass (I think--is a deluxe pass $269 now?).

Do you all need APs? I'm getting hoppers for the rest of my family and just buying an AP for myself so I can get the discounts and the AP7 hotel rate. I would love to buy it at Costco for $269 and get a $50 gift card!! I think it's very clever for them to allow you to put the $50 toward upgrading to a Premium pass, too, which I think is about $100 more than the Deluxe.

Ahh- Thank You! We have been thinking about AP's lately. We live in Nor Cal but have many relatives in So Cal. So it might be beneficial to upgrade. Hmmmm

I know what you mean, but it can easily turn into the Disneyland Snowball Effect! We have always gone once a year, but this year I'm getting an AP for the hotel rate. But then once you've decided on an AP, you start looking at potential dates for more trips since you have an AP and all. Next thing you know, you want APs for everyone in the family and have thought about multiple trips :rotfl: It didn't help me when Disney added the new promo (free admission or gift card on your birthday)!

:rotfl: :yay: Yes I could get carried away in the wonder and magic of the mouse. We haven't decided yet..DH not too into it. Me, all for it. If not this year...perhaps next year.:rolleyes1
Thanks for your help, glad to know the in's & out's before we go!

I decided to renew our APs even though we wouldn't be going to the DLR for 2 months. I did the math and I would be out about $20. We are arriving late in the evening at the GCH and to try and get to Disneyland to get our "new" APs before checking in would be a pain. The online discount to renew help offsite the loss of a month or so of non use.

So I now have my re-newed AP cards in hand and can check in. It was a cost analysis and considering we have a 3 year old.
