Different vacation.

That's good....sometimes kids just aren't ready to start school....a few years working & pying for themselves, ages & matures them & then they're ready to put the effort into it.



Yup, I think a road trip vacation would be fun but not in combination with a huge WDW trip!

Oh she will be going to school too. At least for the first semester. I paid for the books already. Thankfully her tuition is free.

Ah, well I hope that things get better for you soon. :hugs: And who wouldn't want to go to Disney???

Oh it's a long story and it isn't pretty. Frankly baby birds have to leave the nest sometime don't they? I just would prefer she wasn't rude about it.

I am so upset.

I bought some trading pins on ebay for my daughter as part of her Christmas gift and they were delivered today. Then some idiot shoved the wrong key into the parcel box and took my package instead of their! Now I don't know if I am going to get my package back!!

OH NO!!!! That's theft!! I hope they figure out who did it?? Maybe when they realize it's just pins, they'll put the package back! I'd put a notice on the postal boxes, asking for it's return......just drop it on my doorstep at _______. No questions asked!! It's worth a shot.

Michele... I am sorry you are having Teenager problems! I went to college right out of HS and it was a big mistake. I didn't know what I wanted to do and didn't pay attention in most of my classes. Yes I graduated but with no real knowledge to apply to a job! Fast Forward 6 years after my first graduation and I find myself back in school (much more expensive the 2nd time around as no Financial Aid for 2nd degrees!!) This time going for ursing which I love but if you had asked me my first time in college to go for nursing I would have said HELL NO!! Sometimes it does take time and maturity to decide the right path...

I've pretty much come to that conclusion!! This discussion came up as a "ha ha", let's drive to Florida. Then it was like, we could see all sorts of things & places we've never been......but the reality of how many days it would take (and not allowing for a lot of stopping) made us realize this was not possible. We'd be worn out before we even started!

Speaking of road trips, let's go back & relive our Summer of 2010 road trip to Disneyland. This was the first trip where ALL 7 of my kids got to go together, plus my MIL joined us.

We started out at 6:30am from Salem Oregon. We rented a 12 passenger van to get us there & back. In retrospect, I think a larger van would have been better.

But luckily, I'm good at Tetrus!!

All loaded up & ready to go!!

We headed out & made a stop in Medford to see some friends. We stopped at the mall so the kids could play in the kid area as we visited. After a short break & lunch....we were on our way south again!

Our trip has a lot of beauty in it......here's Mt Shasta (taken from a moving vehicle!!)

We made a stop for dinner just south of Sacramento. We found out that Shy loved mashed potatoes & gravy!

We had a short trip to our stop for the night in Lathrop, CA at the Hampton Inn. Very nice place & comfy beds.

We ended our day here.......

Day 2 started with the free breakfast at the Hampton Inn.

Back on the road & the California landscape.

Pyramid Lake:

Coming into Santa Clarita for our lunch stop, we spotted Six Flags.

Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor!!! This is a place we used to have in Oregon & I remember going as a kid. We were super excited to be stopping here.

Here we are!!

It was my MIL's birthday today & Derek's the next day, so they got a little song from the staff.

The birthday sundae:

Well, we were disappointed.....the service was horrible.....really slow!!! Even the mgr came over at one point to try to get things back on track. They kept telling me the birthday sundae was on it's way.....it took over 30 mins. We would have gotten up & left, but we couldn't get our bill either. The food was good, but the service just spoiled the whole experience.

Headed south & got into LA traffic (oh joy of joys!!)

Once we got moving, we made a stop at the Disney Character Warehouse Outlet Store before checking into our motel.

We've arrived at our destination for the Disneyland portion of the trip!! We stayed at the Howard Johnson, lovingly known as the HoJo.

The grounds here are beautiful!!

The main pool.

Castaway Cove is a water play area for the kids (and a hot tub for the adults).

We had 2 Premium Rooms with Disney View (building 1, 4th floor):

Thank You!! I don't think I got a picture coming home.....but we bought a ton of souvenirs that we had to fit in there as well.......there wasn't an inch of space left open by the time we were done.......

After dinner, we headed back to the motel to watch the night time shows from our balcony. We were able to see the water sprays from the new World of Color show in Disney's California Adventure from our balcony.

We also saw the finale fireworks from Fantasmic.

Next up was the fireworks!!!

Thank you!! There are some areas on the trip from Oregon to Anaheim that are beautiful, then you have areas of nothingness.......lol

We loved our room at the HoJo......the kids room (right next to us) had a tree blocking most of their view.

Day Three, first day in the parks!! Also, Derek's 21st birthday!!

We headed off to the right of the castle & got to see Derek's favorite mountain~~the Matterhorn!

The first ride of this trip was the Mad Party Teacups!! The twins loved the spinning!
