Is it a hassle to change resort mid-vacation?

Just wondering if it is a hassle to split a vacation between resorts. I was thinking on our first DVC trip it would be nice to experience two different resorts. Is checking out and checking in again a hassle? Would Disney transfer the luggage between say Old Key West and Boardwalk or would we have to do it ourselves? Just curious what your experiences are with this. Thanks!

The biggest hassel would be packing & unpacking for the room switch. Checking in & out is no big deal for Disney, your simply acting as two separate customers. Don't know if they would transfer your luggage but you could simply pay a cabbie a few $$$ to transfer you & luggage, you've got to get yourself there somehow anyway.

We did this on our trip last June. We moved from BWV to OKW. Packing is by far the biggest hassle. Once you're packed up, call bell services and they can arrange to have your bags delivered to your next resort, (no charge except for tipping).

You have to pay all charges on your room when you check out, (they can't carryover to your 'new' resort). Go enjoy a day at the parks; then take a DISNEY bus to your new resort and check-in, get new room 'keys' etc. Your bags will be there waiting.

We did it because we couldn't get ressie's at BWV for the last 3 nites of our stay. I don't know that I'd want to do it every trip but it wasn't too bad.

We've switched resorts numerous times. We always plan to do a waterpark on the switch day. The only drawback is if you happen to get bad weather or if you don't want to stay at a park all day. Last year we moved from BWV to OKW it poured all day fortunately the front desk was able to move us from one room to another. We were willing to be flexible about location.

I guess it all depends on your personality. We have done this before and plan to do it for our next 2 trips. We never unpack our suitcases, so all we really need to do is gather up toiletries and away we go! We love getting to stay at 2 different resorts! It adds to our Disney vacation! :D

I agree, the process is no hassle. But it is a pain packing up and settling in again! But you only live once, so try the 2 resorts.

The only thing I would add is that it makes your vacation seem shorter when you switch resorts. We've done it numerous times and it just seems to make the trip shorter than when you stay in one place the entire trip.

We love to switch resorts. Disney has so much to offer it's nice to sample a few resorts each trip. Just pack your stuff and leave it in your room Disney does the rest, poof just like magic. ºoº

I was wondering if staying at 2 different resorts when we visit for our 2002 vacation is worth it. Any suggestions?, we are members at WLV.
