Just wondering how these rides compare. My two daughters (6 and 9) would not go on this at WDW a year and a half ago. They had heard horror stories of the the loud scarry dinosaurs and the roaring from their older brothers. I am sure they would have been frightened. Does Indiana Jones have a lot of same elements? Do you think it is as scarry?

The two rides are very similar--same type of vehicles and a similar track, but Indy isn't anywhere near as scary. It's just a lot more fun and better themed.

I agree, Indy is not as "Scary" as Dinsosaur. There are however some scary things that happen in Indy (giant snake, skulls, dark parts, firey parts) and some very intense action. I think Indy has a lot more intense action and is a faster rougher ride. You know you child best - is it roaring dinosaurs that scare her or dark, intense unpredictable action that is scary?
I would let my 5 yr old ds on Indy if he was tall enough, we did not do Dinosaur when we were at WDW a few months ago because I had been on it and I knew it would be scary for him. I let him choose but he agreed that he did not want to see loud scary dinosaurs.

Having ridden both, the ride concepts are indeed similar in terms of what the ride does. IMHO, Indiana Jones is one of the very best rides that Disney has ever done. The theming is awesome, the concept is amazing, and the special effects are fantastic.

I also feel that Dinosaur is scarier and Indiana is MUCH more fun. Indiana seems to be a better ride in every aspect.

Yes, I also think Dinosaur was much more scary (and gruesome, with that big dinosaur chowing down on another one). I rode that without my kids, and I'm glad, I won't take my 6 year old on that. But I think she'll love Indy. Indy's MUCH better, in my opinion.

I agree with the others, but if your kids are scared of skeletons and snakes and such, this ride might not be for them. I have seen kids about 6-8 years old get on looking scared to death and getting off much the same way. Other kids love it! You know your kids best! Prep them by watching the indy movies first maybe? If they hate the Temple of Doom, this isn't for them.

I've also seen kids freak out once they enter the indoor portion of the queue.

I think the main thing that makes Dinosaur scarier is that its darker (literally). Indy has much more elaborate sets and show scenes, while Dinosaur relies more on the darkness.

The ride mechanisms are essentially identical.

Indy is the better attraction, imho, and generally won't be as scary for most kids.

This is the ride my fiance just keeps raving on and on about. He wants to make sure we ride it "at least FIVE TIMES!" during our stay. He apparently loves it.

I don't think that Indiana Jones is anywhere near as rough as Dinosaur. And Dinousaur is a lot scarier too. I enjoyed both rides.

I agree!! I've had surgery on my neck, and I've been told no roller coasters. I rode Dinosaur thinking it's okay because it's not a roller coaster. Ha! I swear I will never ride it again because I was really scared about injuring my neck because it was so rough.
I rode Indy for the first time (after DH previewed it for me) 2 weeks ago. It was not nearly as rough as Dinosaur, and I felt safe enough to ride it two more times!
But it does have a big snake that moves toward you and hisses. That could be scary for some kids!
