We will be on the reg DP, but I don't want to use two credits for it. It would cost us $138 for cat 3. For those that have been- Is it worth paying out of pocket for? (it would be myself, dh, and dd who will be 4) Thanks!

It's one experience at WDW that is still as good as it used to be so I would say yes.

We've never done a Dining Plan so we always pay OOP for Hoop de Doo and are never disappointed! It's definitely worth it. I look forward to it every trip.

Absolutely! We went at the end of Sept and paid oop it was so worth it. We had me, dh, ds3, ds 8months,and My mom. We all loved it. It was so much fun the food was great and the kids were interested the whole time. We will definitely be going b:love:ack!

We did it with DxDD credits. BUT I would gladly pay OOP to go back! The entire family loved it and the food was really good!

Sorry to hijack your thread but I had a similar question and thought there was no sense starting a new one.

We are going to Hoop dee doo and are on the DDP. Currently we are using our 2 table service credits to pay for the meal. Does it make more sense to pay OOP?

Some say Category 3 is fine, but it would not be fine for me. When I go, I pay OOP for Category 1. As far as is it worth it?...YES! We love it! All ages. Even grumpy teens who are sure they will hate it end up laughing at the corny jokes.

We have paid OOP twice for Hoop Dee Doo and never been disappointed. It is always a favorite for both the kids and adults in our group.

Whether you use credits or pay out of pocket this is a good time worth doing. I'm not sure how the plans work as far as categories go. There is a significant price difference between category 1 (main floor) and 3 (up on the shelf). Category 2 is main floor, but at the back of the room and the price falls between 1 & 3.

We were able to get Cat. 1 with our dinning plan at the 9:30 show. A weird time for dinner but we made it work. I agree, try to get Cat. 1 seating. We were on the front row next to the piano and my family is still laughing about that show! :rotfl2:

I didn't do the math on whether it would be worth it to pay OOP. :confused3 We had credits though since DD and I split most meals.

I am staying at WL -- do I go by boat to get there ... It sounds like a hoot ----- I might give it a try /;)

We paid out of pocket and it was enjoyed by us and our two boys age 1 and 3. The 3 year old barely touched his strawberry shortcake as he was more interested in watching the show.

Maybe I'm crazy, but we went in June with DS 5 and DS 2 and ILs and we will not be going back. We had category 2 seating, didn't think the food was all that great and really didn't enjoy the show. My older son didn't get half the show and it was just stupid in my opinion. Now, I know it is really popular, so maybe we're just crazy, but it wouldn't be worth it to me. We were on the Deluxe dining plan, so it didn't bother me to spend two credits (we had several meals left over), but if I was paying OOP, I would be annoyed.

We got that exact table and I didn't like it! Funny.

As far as paying OOP, I would. I would only go if I could get category 1. Just my opinion, though.

If you don't think it's worth 2 dining credits why would you want to pay oop for it?

I think the OP is trying to decide if it's better to pay OOP and still have 2 TS credits per person to play with. From everything I've heard and read since I made my plans, I just decided to change my reservations from a Category 2 DDP meal to a Category 1 OOP meal.

I've done it both ways and will probably do both at some point in the future. It's a lot of fun and great food. Remember, the price includes all the Bud Light, wine or sodas you care for and it also includes the tip.

Thanks for all your help! It sounds like most eveyone who has been has enjoyed it! Also, I wasn't saying it wasn't worth 2 credits, I just don't want to use 2 of my 7 TS credits for it. I have other TS places that I want to use those for!
