I'm looking for a hotel that will sleep 6 (2A, 3C) at the end of the month. Called today, and the rate is $169 for the kids suite, which is a little out of our budget, or rather, what my husband is willing to pay for a hotel room.
so the pros are:
The pool looks AWESOME for the kids
It his going to be DH's bday, so we will need some privacy at the end of the night.
Walking distance

Cons:
price
no free breakfast

What did you like/not like about hojo?

Don't forget that you get a 15% DIS board discount. You just have to ask for it. Also check if the entertainment rate ($99) is available for the days of your stay.

I've only stayed at Fairfield in (5 years ago) so can't really give you any other info about hotels.

Parking is plentiful and more important, free.
Service is outstanding.
Definitely call back and ask for the 15% discount - that will save over $25 a night!

there is nothing I didn't like about Hojo. But I don't think I would pay that much to stay there either. You said sleeps 6? But said 2a3c?
Unless a suite is your only choice why not 2 queens and a chair sleeper? Like Fairfield inn?
Otherwise there are other suites at other hotels like portofino inn it's like 2 minutes farther.
Personaly I would look around try hotels.com and other sites like that first. :)
Good luck :)

Wow, you are a good wife! I bet if he were to read this post, he would tell you to spring for the space! :lmao:

Seriously though...we have stayed at HOJO and love it. In December we are staying and taking the kids Suite. With the AP discount the price is about $107?? You should call and find out what the disboard discount price is. It may be better than you expect and put the room in your budget.

I am struggling with this for another friend trip that I am taking in October and HOJO is 3 times more than a really great rate we got at another property. But I really want to go with what I know and love, which is HOJO. Probably going to spring for it. I just can't pass on the location, beds, condition etc...

Most of the free breakfasts are really overrated. If you are going to be there for long, I would have some groceries delivered, or drive to the store if you will have a car. When we go in October, we will probably bring some snack stuff in our suitcases to work for breakfast and help with snacking in the park, although I do love to snack in the park!

Good Luck with your decision!

I had a few problems with the HoJo when I stayed there, but the problems were all confined to one room (nothing awful, just the "older hotel" problems like electrical outlets being too loose to hold a plug, a huge hassle that culminated in them replacing the box to get the Internet working, bad cable, which didn't affect me at all, safe that didn't work initially). It wasn't the kids' suite. The walk can feel a little long if you're not in decent shape, but I was fine with it myself. I don't have any compelling reasons not to stay, except for the price.

For that price, I would certainly look at other hotels in the area, especially if $169 is before taxes. With a family your size, a free breakfast can save quite a few bucks, even if you just eat stuff from the grocery store.

If your choices are HoJo or staying somewhere where you can't walk to the park, I would try to go for HoJo. But if not, I'd check a few more hotels--I know there are some other suites within walking distance.

We are staying at HoJos... 2 ad and 3 children in a standard queen/queen room. So there's always that option although of course it's smaller with no microwave; but it's also much cheaper.
Eeee-va; they shouldn't have "old room" issues with the Kids Suites as they are all brand new.

OOPS! I'm used to our kid count, but I'm bringing my niece, so that makes 4kids.
We've stayed at Portofino, Park Vue, and La Quinta in kids suites before, so wanted to try out a new place, and the kids pool at HoJo looks awesome! I'll def call back and ask for the disboards rate, thanks! (and ask about a military rate also)

I love HOJO's the rooms the beds were awesome there so comfortable. The only drawback is the walk to the parks not so much he walk there because your refreshed and ready for the day but the walk back after a long day are killers...

We also looked at Hojo's for our upcoming trip. Although I have not stayed anywhere near disneyland yet. I selected Residents Inn Garden Grove instead of Hojo. I booked through AAA but you can get the same rate through the disney site.

I picked them because they had a free breakfast and M-Th a light dinner. They also have a movie night for the kids. Is has a FULL kitchen too.

I am not sure you travel dates but when I went to the website I found 1 br king suites for $149 per night.

We love Hojos and Fairfield Inn. IMO, no, it's not worth paying $169 a night to stay there. You could stay at one of the Disney hotels for a little more if that's the case. If you can get the Ent rate or some sort of discount then it's worth staying there. Since we found FFI, we will never again pay full price to stay at Hojos. We have in the past paid full price to stay there because we wanted to go with somewhere we knew, were comfortable with and knew to be safe and have good customer service. Now we know that there are other places just as good or better. I think as long as you stick with a major chain type hotel/motel, it will be fine. Residence Inn has Queen suites and they have full, hot, made to order breakfasts. For a family your size, someplace like RI at $169 a night including hot breakfast would make sense.
Keep in mind the waterplay area at Hojos is NOT a pool. It's a little water play area for kids. Next to that is the jacuzzi. Not a great location if you want some adult time without the kids. The pool is by building 2 and it's ice cold.

We have never been able to book a room at Hojo since it did/does not have rooms for 6 people but have stayed at RI maingate(numerous times) since it is about the same distance away, have a great breakfast and managers special, they will get groceries for you and the rooms have been spacious and super service.
