Is HHN much more crowded on Friday than Sunday?

Will be heading to Orlando from 10/1 to 10/6 and was wondering which day to do HHN? Friday the 1st would be the easiest for us, since we want to do MNSSHP on the 3rd,but don't want to deal with too much crowds. We plan on buying express passes, are they much more expensive on a friday night than sunday?

Thanks,

Antonio

Historically...Sundays are considered off peak nights and therefore less expensive. The crowds should be lighter on Sunday and since you're going to purchase the Express passes, you should be good.

In our experience Sundays have been less crowded than Fridays, and as Metro said, cheaper as well. Unfortunately over the years as the event has gotten more and more popular, Sunday nights can also be fairly crowded. You might want to look at utilizing the "stay and scream" option if you are planning on being at Universal during the day. Basically once in the studios, you head to a specific holding location prior to 5:00 pm while they clear out the park of day guests. They release you from the holding area about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes prior to the guests waiting at the main gate, and you'll be able to get in a few houses (usually the sound stage houses) without using your express passes before the masses start descending on them.

If you aren't planning on visiting the park during the day, be sure and get to the main gates about 5:00 pm as the lines do get quite long (we made that mistake once - never again!). You'll need to go through metal detectors before you get to the turnstiles. As far as I know they'll start letting in guests around 6:30ish.

Fridays: open until 2am. Houses average 2-3hr waits. Express is more expensive ($60+ per person) and will sell out.

Sundays: open until midnight. Houses average 1-2hr waits. Express is slightly less expensive ($40+ per person) and will sell out.

Fridays: open until 2am. Houses average 2-3hr waits. Express is more expensive ($60+ per person) and will sell out.

Sundays: open until midnight. Houses average 1-2hr waits. Express is slightly less expensive ($40+ per person) and will sell out.

We should clarify that the wait time with the express pass is not what Dark Marauder indicated above - that is for the regular line. Express pass lines wait times vary from 5 min to 30 min max (on peak nights) depending on the popularity of the house and how many EPs they sell.

normally sunday's would be less crowded than friday's but the 1st week of HHN is not normally that bad as far as wait times and crowds.
