We need to add a day to the front of an already existing reservation, and all 4 room types have been on waitlist for weeks. Our existing reservation is a 1BR. But, a 3BR villa just popped up as available for the one night we need and I have the points to swing it without hurting future plans.

Should I do it?

I think it’s crazy, but I don’t think you’re crazy. It’s your points. Do with them as you please. I would never do that though.

Can you book it without borrowing or otherwise committing those points to that UY? You could book it and keep trying to modify it to what you want, if releasing the extra points won’t put them into holding or make them unusable otherwise.

Heck, yeah!

We've talked about booking an SSR Treehouse for just the two of us.

Wallowing in luxury for a single night? Like I'd say don't do that? :rotfl2:

I just changed a 15 point SSR studio to a 55 point VGF 1 bedroom because we didn’t want three moves to different resorts in 4 nights. We still have to move to another VGF villa, but we had the points and we both think it was worth it.

I'm quoting myself because I would like to amend my original post as it's a bit hypocritical on my part.

I have been going back and forth with a similar decision for a trip to DLR in May. My DD and I are traveling there for our first ever trip and I currently have the Disneyland Hotel booked, even though it's three times as expensive as an off-site (but just as close) hotel. I have been going back and forth about whether or not I want to spend so much to stay there, but according to my logic in the quote above, I shouldn't even be considering it, right?

Anyway, really it comes down to how YOU want to spend YOUR points...no judgement here :goodvibes

I don't think I could bring myself to spend the points on that. Of course I've gone on 2 week road trips entirely on opaque booking through Priceline 😆

I’m spending my retirement!

If you have the points and want to do it, go for it. It´s a vacation that is a luxury; you should enjoy yourselves however you want.

We stayed at a Copper Creek Cascade Cabin when we brought our family. I want to go back again with my dh and enjoy the place with just the two of us. And that will be a heck of a lot of points!

I almost did it in January with myself and my grands. I was thinking of a nice fire on the cool nights and January is low points. Then my one bedroom that I was missing popped up.

edit: read that you got your 1 bedroom. I think you would have enjoyed the grand villa! I did it for thanksgiving for the first time with 7 of us and the space was so nice.

We did this with a group of 5 in January for these exact reasons. It was awesome! Not sure on the point costs for other seasons, but I'd totally go back in January with 2 people :rotfl2:
