Just wondering if anyone has heard anything if Harry Potter will ever come to Universal Studios in Ca? Or will it only have the theme park in Orlando? Being that I live on West coast would love to have one here!! Went to Orlando in March and didn't even get to fully experience Harry Potter as I wanted too. I have no trips for at least a few years to head to Florida :( and I can't wait that long to go back :)

I doubt USH will add HP but you never know.

Universal's contract with JK/WB is only for the Orlando park. In fact, JK explicitly wanted it in Orlando as it was the nearest/only Universal park that her fellow Brits would be able to visit.

Personally, I am not a fan of cloning rides or themed areas in multiple parks. USH has the King Kong 3D 360 experience which Florida does not have, and it will also get Transformers along with Singapore, before Florida.

So at the moment USH has enough to worry about. It never got Spider-man either, so it seems Universal consider the Orlando park as their #1 international tourist destination with the best rides (and 2 parks instead of 1), whereas USH, Singapore, and Japan are regional parks which do not pull in international visitors.

I don't even think there is enough room at Universal Hollywood.

You know - we are heading out that way this fall and I was excited to look up USH and spend a day there. After looking at the map I almost think we'll skip it. It seems like it is mostly just copies of what we have here with just a couple exceptions? :confused3

I want Transformers here in Orlando.:thumbsup2

We quite liked it. The Studio Tour on its own is really, really good. Transformers won't be open yet. Mummy and Jurassic Park are similar but not quite the same.

Ok - if Damo says it is worth it we're going!!! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I would guess only if they added an Islands of Adventure park out there. And I haven't heard any plans along those lines at all. Has Hollywood even added anything new at all lately? I haven't heard.

lol, you're funny. We got the front of the line access pass but we were there in the middle of summer and didn't want to be waiting around in the heat. Their pass allows you unlimited fotl access and includes admission. Watch for good deals as there seem to be many!

We are huge fans of the Southern California theme parks (except for Knott's Berry Farm--I hated that place--but of course the kids loved it). I'm not a huge WDW fan but I adore Disneyland(the Indiana Jones ride is my favourite ride anywhere) and CA (can't wait for Cars Land). We also love Magic Mountain. We live in the Toronto area and try to get out to those parks every couple of years.

I HOPE SO!!! Universal studios is soooo bland..

Your so right! We stop by about every 10 years when in Ca as nothing ever changes!

The acres is much smaller than Fl, if they did add anything else they most likely would have to take something away or a few attractions away to add HP.

Unfortunately, its a slim chance Orlando will get Transformers as its pretty much the same thing as Spiderman (al la Indiana Jones at DLR and Dinosaur at DAK are pretty much the same thing). Unless something happens with Universal's Marvel contract.

There's the new King Kong thing, and the Transformers ride. That's about it besides show changes (Creature from the Black Lagoon the musical......which only lasted less than a year I think).

For Universal Orlando to get the Transformers ride that's going in at Universal Studios Hollywood would mean the end of Spider Man in Orlando as it's essentially the same ride.

I thought someone said they were going to re-theme Spiderman and make it Transformers anyway. I thought they were going to have to since Disney bought Marvel.

Eventually...yes but no time soon. Universal's contract with Marvel predates Disney's purchase and is in perpetuity so Disney can't use any of the characters at WDW that Universal currently has in place as long as Universal follows the contract guidelines.

I don't know all the details but from what I've heard Universal can keep using these characters for as long as they want,Disney said they were fine with it as Universal has a contract to use them and they would honor it,I think however there is some sort of royalty that does end up going to Disney so I would not be surprised if 5-10 years down the road most or all of Marvel Superhero island is rethemed.

Though, Disney is looking for loopholes. I think I read somewhere that the contract is worded in such a way that Disney could use them in a show of some sort (the article was mentioning it as a possible 2nd DTD Cirque show). Since it would be a show and not an attraction/ride. But it was a rumour so who knows how correct it is.

There's no room at USH for anything like that. They can't get rid of any o fteh backlot since they actually use it for filming. And USH is surrounded by roads and the Hollywood Hills as well as commercial buildings.

Unfortunately both DL and USH are both limited by lack of land. We live about 40 mins. from USH and we have been once in the past 2 years since we moved here. And as CA residents, we could get the entire year for $60....and we still think that's a waste!
