Watched the Halloween parade on youtube last night and looked at some photos as well. Whilst I love the music, I think it all looks quite scary and not very magical! I'm worried that it would frighten DD and DLP would lose some of its 'magic' for her.
What do you think?

not sure if they will have the halloween parade this year, perhaps one of the savvies will know, your dd will have a wonderful time, not that scarey, (Unless you mean halloween night, havent seen that one) but during the whole season kids can can free face painting and hair-dos and theres the lovely pinada where they select kids from the audience to try to break a bag thats full of sweets., the cavalcade goes by so fast that its very easy to miss it, there was a mummie (the bandaged type :rotfl: ) last year.not sure about this year though. hope that helps a bit

Thanks for the reply! It's just that DD's started that phase where she's started to think more about everything, sometimes too much, and I don't want to make her even worse!

Hi there we went for our first time at halloween with a 2 and 3 year old they were a little unsure at first but got over it quickly mickey and minnie were still fantastic and you can get as close or keep your distance during the parade..... it was our favourite trip to date certainly has had a lasting impression as they still talk about it DD will be 5 in the morning and guess where she would like to go for her b'day i would go for it because it is not at all too scary especially when you build them up to think how funny they all look by thre end of the holiday DS took the characters hands and joined them in the parade aged 2 its so magical you can't help having a good time no matter when you go

Thanks! I know it might spoil the surprise but I'm gonna show her some youtube videos and see what she thinks.

Sarah,

Just a thought:

You might like to contact with the people working at Disneyland
about what to expect when you are there for the Halloween
event. The more you know about what to expect, in terns of
how scary something is, the better you'll be prepared for teh trip.

I don't know if showing a video would help too much. It's a big
difference between what you see on a video and what you see
live.

The best advice is:

You know your child best. If you know your child gets easily frightened
it's probably best to avoid anything that would frighten your child.
Perhaps you could observe your child's play. And you might consider
playing dress up, too. Every chid is different.

You mighr even benefit from reading from this page;

http://pbskids.org/rogers/parentsteachers/theme/

There are some topics that deal with pretending, so you can read more
about Fred Rogers' thoughts about play and pretending there. That might also give you some ideas on how best to prepare your child for a trip to another place, too. This program was a good one for many children in the USA, too.

Good luck!

Thanks! I know it might spoil the surprise but I'm gonna show her some youtube videos and see what she thinks.

That is what we have done with the troops in anticipation of what would happen on the rides and it definitely helped in preparing them for what to expect :goodvibes

Thanks for all the advice! DD loves all the villains, it's just that it seems to be all villains and nothing else. Do they still have princess meet n greet during Halloween or are they villain orientated as well?
