Is GF worth about 600 more than WL?

I can switch now and would love to know your thoughts. I would love to be on the monorail and would love to be a boat ride away from MK. I would love being there on her birthday because we have the Alice in Wonderland tea party, dinner at 1900 Park Fare, and also BBB at MK that day. BUT, whew that is a lot of money.:confused3 :confused3

You're also a boatride from MK at the Wilderness Lodge. Many families take advantage of the things going on at the GF without staying there. Even visiting the lobby, you'll get the feeling with all those activities you have planned. If you can't afford to stay there, stay elsewhere and soak up the atmosphere during a visit. there's no law that says you can't hang around the lobby! especially since you have reservations at 1900 park fare and the tea party.

$600 for how many days?

My answer to your question...YES!! We just stayed at the Poly and to us, it didn't remotely compare to the GF. I've never stayed at the WL, but we loved the GF and it would definitely be worth an extra $600.

It is for November 4th thru the 8th so 4 nights. We stayed at the Poly last time. I would love to stay there. I would love to be right there because we were so spoiled by the Poly and being able to jump on the boat.

Location is definitely one reason why people pay more for a house, if that's a priority for them. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all have a different definition of "worth". Are you closer to the MK, yes. Are the rooms bigger, yes. Can you get a bathrobe and turndown service, yes. Not sure if that's worth another $150 a night, but if it's within your budget, it sounds like something that matters to you. If it's not within your budget, only you can decide if it's worth giving up some table service dinners for counter service, or maybe not spending as much on souveniers. Like I said though, we all value things differently and this is really a personal choice type of decision.

You are so right. It is what is important to me or us. I just cant decide and it is driving me nuts.

Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. Turndown is automatic on all club levels and in the standard rooms at the GF. At the other deluxes, you have to call and ask for it and it's not guaranteed. I can't remember if we had bathrobes any other place besides the GF. I know they are in the club level rooms there and if you're in a standard, you can call housekeeping and have some delivered to your room.

Ok, one more question. How are the beds there? That is one reason I pay for deluxe. I want queen or king and I need comfy for my back. What are your opinions??

We loved the WL, and thought it had great transportation. When we were there 2 months ago, they were changing out all the mattresses, so if you stay there, chances are you'll get a new mattress. I loved the GF too.

"Worth it" is hard to define. It's hard to give an answer to this.

That being said, if spending the extra dollars does not subtract from your souvie/meal/extras budget and it if it means you have the cash instead of placing the extra on credit I would go for it.

You're going to be happy with either place.

Keep in mind they charge more for GF because of location, location, location. They throw in a few services like turndown service and robes to try to up the image, but don't expect your hotel stay to be a 5-stars hotel treatment. If location is important to you and worth $150/night, then go for it. Personally, after staying at both WL and GF, I would save $150/night and go with WL. Heck, spend $300 on your daughter and $300 on yourself at the parks! :)

The beds are super duper comfy newish pillowtop mattresses. I have a fabulous mattress at home & I am kinda picky, but I don't mind the GF's at all. I sleep really well there!;) The standard GF rooms have queens and a few have kings.

I love the Grand! It is my favorite Disney hotel....and we've stayed in plenty. If you can afford the price difference, go for it. :thumbsup2

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

We have stayed at the GF, once, we did not care for the whiteness of everything, plus all the building locations not hooked by halls, was a good walk to the main lobby and food court, we felt remote, not even in Disney in our building and food prices just seemed to high but that was 12 years ago. WL, great theming, all under one roof, boat to the MK and saving alot of money per night. Sorry but the GF is just not worth the money.

Going to be at the Grand in 43 days! I've stayed at the WL and loved it, so either would probably suit me....I'll be able to pick a favorite more easily when we get back from this trip. (I kinda hope it isn't the GF, because that's sure gonna hurt my wallet!!!)

I like Lucincia's idea. Stay at the AWESOME WL, and spend the extra money on you and your DD. I think kids prefer WL over GF anyway. Plus, while your daughter is at the Wonderland Tea Party at GF, you could use some of that money at the GF Spa. Perhaps a massage:woohoo:

The thing is everyone's opinion of style is different. I'm sure there are plenty of kids that LOVE the GF. I would imgaine there are plenty of girls that would love the GF. Myself, a male in his 30's, I prefer the GF much more over WL. It is my favorite resort on property.

The WL is just a boat ride away from MK, so it is still rather convenient to that park, but the GF is a shorter boat ride away, and one monorail stop away.

If you really love the look and feel of the GF then I say go for it. But if you prefer the style of WL, then stay there. This is why you get competely opposite opinions about where to stay.
