Is Genie+ Needed at AK and Epcot

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. Please direct me to the right place, if not.

My son usually has a DAS that we would use with Fastpass+. We’re going back soon and I was planning to purchase Genie+ for all our park days.

However, I keep reading that it is not needed in Epcot and Animal Kingdom.
My question is has anyone used both Genie+ and DAS in those two parks and thought it was worth it or was it overkill?

I had Genie+ for my whole trip back in October (before Frozen Ever After and Expedition Everest we’re added to the Genie+ attractions), and I’d say that while it was nice getting to skip some lines at AK and Epcot, it totally wasn’t necessary. Most of the rides at both parks top out at a 30 minutes wait or are an IAS, with the exceptions of Frozen Ever After, Test Track, and Expedition Everest. These three attractions are where you really get your bang for your buck at these parks, given that their lines are almost certainly at least 45 minutes, with Test Track and FEA having typical lines between 60-90 minutes. So you’ll definitely be able to get everything done at both parks without LL, but if you’d like to ride these three attractions (and occasionally soarin) more than once in a day, or if you’d like to not wait 60-90 minutes 1 or 2 times per park, then I’d say get LL.

Thank you for the response! I’ll watch the wait times in the app as we get closer to help make a decision for us. I’ve budgeted to buy each day but would love to save that money. Lol.

One thing to note, if you’re buying in advance, disney will only allow you to buy for the entire length of the trip. If you want to pick and choose days to have Genie+, you have to buy the day of.

Yes. Thank you. We did not buy with the tickets since I was conflicted about Epcot and animal kingdom needing Genie+.

I’m still on the fence. I am going to chart out the rides that I believe are a must do for him at those parks and see if it makes financial sense.

Additionally, if you’re going at a peak time (holidays or breaks), I would keep an eye on the Genie+ attraction list as they added some of the IAS rides into Genie+ during the Christmas season to help ease crowds. So maybe you’ll get lucky and have a couple of the IAS included at Epcot and AK, which definitely boosts the value for Genie+. I might be wrong, but for Epcot and AK I believe they made Frozen Ever After and Expedition Everest part of Genie+

I need some clarification on the pre trip video call I need to make for A DAS pass for my grandaughter (6). She was diagnosed 6 month ago with Type 1 diabetes and she will need accommodations. Does she need to be on the call( we live in two different cities) and exactly what does the DAS pass allow her to do? I have looked online and read that 4-6 hour waits online to get one is common. Anyone had experience with the call?

She need to be on the call to becuse they have to take the picture of the person needing the DAS.

The DAS let the person and there family wait their time outside of the line and go though the FP/LL when it is time to return

They will ask what then needs are thst prevent her firm waiting in a standby line

Yes, the DAS-holder will need to be on the video call because they take her picture to attach to the DAS. Be prepared that the diagnosis is not necessary, you'll have to explain why she needs a DAS. You should think about what needs she may have that prevents her from waiting in a standard queue environment.

Separate from DAS, I recommend having plenty of testing supplies -- at least double if not triple what she would use on a typical day at home. Carry extra snacks or glucose tabs/gel -- whatever she uses for quick carbs to treat a low. Take the day slow and be sure to stop for snacks/meals on a regular basis, and be sure she is hydrating. Preventing a low is a lot easier than treating one, which could leave her wiped out for the rest of the day.
