Is free dining really that busy??

Because I just called up to try and get an ADr for late Aug and I couldn't believe it when I got the exact day and time I wanted.

It was a popular time too ...6pm for 4.
With all the talk of restaurants being full with free dining i thought I had no chance.
Perhaps it isn't so bad after all.

My friends who are travelling with us...a family of 5....have NO adrs and they hae the dinig plan (that they actually paid for) I have worried about them but perhaps they will find something whilst there after all.

She did tell me she was going to try and book coral reef...i told her it was likely to be full...but we will see.

We did the free dining last Sept. I called and did just fine with the character meals we wanted, CRT was the only 1 I couldn't get. Didn't book anything else though. We did ok at MGM, went around lunch time and booked for dinner at 50's. We took a late ressie because we wanted to make sure we saw Fantasmic. Epcot was a different story. We tried first thing in the am when we got to the park and lunch and dinner was booked solid. (at least where we wanted to eat) This next trip I will try to do all our ADR's in advance.

i just called to change a couple of reservations for my trip i a couple weeks and the one meal i wanted for my birthday. The only night it was available was Sunday, but the CM I talked to was very nice and even confirmed my other resies for me. Several places I was looking at had open space.

If you're friends can't find reservations for dinner, have them try lunch.

So glad you had a good experience! I called last night to confirm ours for next week, and the CM's comment when she pulled them up was GREAT! you must have booked these well in advance! I asked about changing the time on one, and it was completely booked! I imagine there are many places with times still available, just be flexible!

The week we are there (9/12-9/18) was pretty booked. i have called back a few times trying to get better times and it is not happening.
