Really don't want to stay onsite, as we'll have a car...but would do one night at RPR or HRH - check in early, go all day, and the next...

Any tips helpful - never been to US/IOA before:)

I never go to Universal unless I stay on site. In January lines are not as long, but if it says 25 minute wait, you can wait you will walk on with FOTL. Very convenient and you can make the most of your day!

No. Late Jan-early Feb is VERY SLOW. Most attractions peak at a 20 minute wait. There are times where using the free express isn;t needed because the lines are so short!

The lines are very short in Jan/early feb although we went two days with FOTL and then went back on our last day without!!..... never again ...even though it was quiet there were still queues for the major rides. Going in Jan /early Feb means with FOTL there are no queues at all. Every thing is a walk on.

Also you can get cheap deals with an AP ( we had $119) at HRH and you use the water taxis to go to the parks rather than that infernal walk from the car lot!!!

Worth it in my opinion!

February is my favorite month to go. Very quiet in the morning, picking up in the afternoon. The only other time the parks are this light is just after summer the last week of August and the first couple weeks of September.

Late February is a great month to go. Temps are 55-75. Wear two t-shirts in the morning, change to 1 in the afternoon and do the water rides, they run, incredible.
You will be spoiled after doing this.
