Is FoP like Soarin'?

I don't like roller coasters with big drops but I love Soarin. Would you say that FoP is like Soarin' or is it more intense? Also is FoP in 3D? If so, will have to decide as my one daughter tends to get headaches from 3D movies. About how long is the ride? Maybe it wouldn't bother her since it is not a 1 1/2 hour long movie. Thanks

IMHO it’s the best ride in wdw. You sit on a type of motorcycle. Unlike soarin it’s more a one on one where you get your own screen. If 3d bothers you there could be a problem. Only way to really know is try it.

It's like Soarin' on steroids, for a lack of better description.
Much more immersive.

If 3D is a possible problem, the guest still does need to wear the 3D glasses (or the image will be very blurry,)
but the guest can keep one eye closed during the ride and the 3D image will no longer appear in 3D.

(Take a couple of post-it notes and be prepared to block one lens of the 3D glasses
for the duration of the ride, if keeping one eye closed will be a bother.)

Yes. I am not comfortable with heights, and not fond of the physically insecure feeling in the chairs of soaring. I liked FOP much better than soaring. The seat design and restraints, I felt very comfortable and secure. My daughter said she looked over at me to see how I was doing, and I was smiling ear to ear and my hair blowing in the breeze. She said I looked like a Pantene commercial! Haha. I love TOT, it is my favorite ride. So it is not drops that bother me. But again, in TOT I am securely strapped in place. So, as I said, for me it is the "county fair swing chairs" design of the seats in soaring that feel so unsafe. FOP really is a great ride you don't want to miss.

Went today on FoP for our first time! Amazing!!! I was worried about motion sickness, but I had no problems. As @AngiTN said, it's like Soarin' on steroids
It had some big drops but the breeze seemed to help (and I also love ToT). The type of ride I can't do is a ride like the teacups but FoP was so great and I'm glad we tried it! BTW we had a 9:05am FP and rode it on an empty stomach (just to be sure in case we felt ill).

What great advice about the 3D aspects!!

OP I can do 3D for short periods of time - I cannot do an entire movie. I'm good with FoP, Muppets and Philharmagic if that helps in your decision. In no way can I do an Imax movie. The movie in France with the round screen, no 3D, and some quick moving scenes makes me slightly dizzy.

I would definitely try it. I have two friends who have different trouble with rides, and both loved FOP. They both said they closed there eyes a few times, but loved the ride. I think it's the best ride at Disney!!

I can't/won't do roller coasters with big drops. I do like dwarves and btmrr, and will ride splash in spite of the drop. Soarin' I enjoy but feel a little off mostly because I feel like I'm going to fall and the lapbelt will be useless. Lol. I LOVED fop! It was fabulous. I think soarin on steroids is a good description but I felt better on it than soarin because I felt so secure with the locking system.
