If you are thinking about this for sometime after August 20th, you'd need to book a lunch package for no later than 12:30 because FoF will begin running at 2:00 on August 20th.

You can find good Parade views along the parade route, especially in Frontierland and Liberty Square, and you won't really need the Dining Package.

The advantage of the Dining Package area is that you can view the Parade as it comes toward you on Main Street and the Castle is its backdrop.

The viewing area is in the blazing sun with no shade.
When it used to be a FP area, we had a FP for it.
We showed up, (well before the parade was due) spent a few minutes there and decided
to go find a spot with more shade.
That was our brief experience.

Would I pay a premium to go there?
Nope.

I agree, I personally don't think it's worth it. I've seen that parade in that area with a FP, and Robo is right, it was soooo hot.

We have gotten good spots at the bottom of the train station steps. About 15-20 minutes before the parade start. Besides, don't you have to eat at Tony's for the package? That would be enough for me not to bother.

If you are on the dining plan and would like to have lunch at Tony's then you absolutely should get the package. It is the same 1 TS credit and you have the appetizer included.
