Yes it’s worth it. In June we had just one animal kingdom day. Did at rope drop and did again later in the day. Great ride. I do miss fast pass for it.
Technically, these days rope drop is arriving an hour before opening. So if you arrive an hour before, you will get on with little wait and be able to do the other things within a couple of hours. I would skip Navi River though and just head to Everest or the Safari. The Navi river line builds quickly with everyone getting off of FOP. I feel like we wasted a good 45-60 minutes with that experience when we could have been doing lower wait rides in the other areas of the park. When you rope drop it is it pretty certain you won't be waiting an hour to get on?
My wife and I want to do a morning at AK, but just want to rope drop FOP, then run to Navi River, then go to Dinosaur and Everest single rider, then done. Can that all be done in a couple hours you think?

For most people, I would say yes under 60 minutes. The only two reason I see people not liking it are: motion sickness, or a bad back.
You're locked-in forward like you are on a motorcycle, which may irritate any lower back pain. I actually do have lower back issues, but FOP doesn't bother me. Dinosaur on the other hand...
What does get me is motion sickness. This is the only ride (short of Mission Space Orange) that makes me feel motion sick. The screen always looks out-of-focus and blurry and it makes my motion sickness worse.
