Is express unlimited necessary in Sept/Oct?

We are thinking of planning a trip to US in late Sept/early Oct. It's so much cheaper to stay at an offsite hotel. Will the lines be crazy long so that it would be worth it to pay more and stay onsite for the express unlimited? We plan to go midweek not weekend days if that makes a difference.

end of sept will be the hard ticket event of hhn. (weekend days)
in october this year, hhn will be held on every wed and thursdays besides the fri, sat, sundays.

so you might see crowds on those days in the afternoon in the studios.

studios will close at 5:00 pm on hhn dates.

if you want to stay offsite and save money, go early to the park each morning before the 9 opening time.
use the single rider lines where available if they are open.


don't know yet how the crowds will be for mid week as this is new this year for having all wednesdays for hhn.
it used to be in past years that wednesday started having hhn at the middle of the month. (15th)
last year i went on the 15th for hhn and the parks were very light during the daytime.

if you plan your trip for monday and tuesday for early october, the studios won't be closing at 5:00.

We went early- mid september 2014 (arrived on a wednesday and left on Sunday). we stayed onsite because we wanted early admission for WWOHP. early admission was definitely worth staying onsite. We used the express unlimited pass for other rides because we had it but it really was not necessary.

Thanks for the replies. We are thinking of CB because we definitely do rope drop at WDW and know we will do EE, but we'd need 2 rooms at the deluxe resorts and that is cost prohibitive.
