Is Everything Booked for Thanksgiving?

I just found out today that our DS's play may be the same weekend as our planned Oct. trip. The next time he's off school for a long weekend is Thanksgiving. We'd be arriving the afternoon (around 4pm) of the 25th & checking out on the 30th. Should I even bother attempting to plan a trip for that time? Is everything booked solid? If you're going on those dates, are you still able to make changes to ADRs? I must admit that I'm not looking forward to calling multiple times only to be told "no" each time, especially since we have everything we wanted for the Oct. trip. If Oct. is out & those going for Thanksgiving are having a hard time getting ADRs, we may just plan to go somewhere else. I would really appreciate feedback from those going at that time. TIA

There is not a whole lot of availability. There was some openings at San Angel Inn and a couple of others. I have a couple of reservations for 2 that I will be cancelling if you are interested or if that will suit your needs.

Thanks for the feedback & helpful post. Unfortunately, that was about what I expected. Thanks for offering the ADRs you're cancelling, but we're a party of 4. Hopefully, someone else can use them.

I realize that! I'm just kind of bummed about the timing & was hoping for some feedback from those who had been planning a Thanksgiving trip all along. That will give me an idea of how many choices I need to be prepared with, when I call.

I was just discussing this today with my GF who is going T-giving week. She's not too familiar with WDW & how busy it can be that week, and assumed she'd call & get something decent. When she called she could choose Marrakesh at 9pm or something else at 9:30pm -and with little kids neither of those worked for her.

Keep trying though, like another OP stated, many people cancel right before their trip, or even during their trip, so possibly something else will turn up.

Is there anything offsite for dinner that day that you'd consider?

What sort of dining are you looking for (character, or just regular)? The best thing to do is just keep calling and asking. I was told that there is usually cancellation starting about a month out. Even if you can't get anything, don't be discouraged as usually you will be able to find something when you are at the resort, just ask the CMs there.

That's encouraging! I've made a rough draft of a schedule in case my DS finds out tomorrow that the play will interfere with our Oct. trip. After that, I'll start calling. Hopefully, we'll at least be able to book a CP package, if we end up going then.

I’m going that same weekend. I hear that weekend is the busiest
of all. I set up all my ADR's a month ago, but just today I added
an ADR for Biergarten for the 30th. I hope that give you an idea

Sorry Tara, I almost missed your post. Thanks for the info. As far as offsite goes, we love Emeril's. That's a good idea. I'll check to see if they have availability, so I'll know if need be.

We will be there this year. Actually we go to Disney every other Thanksgiving. True, it gets busier every year, but we check in the Saturday before Thanksgiving so we get some time in before it gets busy. I have tried to make some adjustments in dining reservations, some were easy, some I couldn't do. I am done changing things now, but the last thing I got successfully was Monday morning, I was able to add Akerhaus for dinner at 6:30. I didn't care what time, I was just regretting not booking it even though I knew my kids would love it because I wanted to go to LeCellier. We were doing LeCellier for lunch, so this works well. I also tried to change Kona for a different day and they couldn't, but now we made plans to leave Disney for that day so it worked out that I couldn't chane it. It does't hurt to call and see what you can get and make the reservations, you can always cancel them if you change your mind (like hopefully some people will do so you can get what you want.) We've gotten pretty good at the Thanksgiving thing, if you have more questions I'd be glad to help...
