I love Epcot! During a week-long trip, we are usually there at least two full days with an additional night or two for dinner or Illuminations. Illuminations is my favorite night-time show out of all the parks. Now that the Osborne Lights are going away, the holiday extension to Illuminations is my favorite Christmas thing in all of the parks.
That being said, YES, this park (FW in particular) is quite outdated and is definitely in need of some love. BUT...do I trust TPTB to do it right and not just take away things that work well? Not in the slightest!
If it were up to me, I would:
- bring back the Wonders of Life pavilion with new attractions
- update Ellen...come on, we have real electric cars now and everything
- bring back the original JII with Figment and Dreamfinder
- toss EO in favor of a new 3D film (a PP mentioned Inside Out, which would be perfect for the Imagination pavilion)
- new film in the Circle of Life theater
- update to the end of Living with the Land...just what are they *doing* in that USDA biotech lab these days?
- refresh and fill in all of Innoventions...not all of this has to be bleeding-edge tech (though having at least some would be nice). But just having science center stuff that's timeless and interesting to kids would be an improvement. When I was a kid, my local science center had an obstacle course kids had to navigate in a wheelchair - opens your eyes to accessibility issues in everyday life. Or a giant wall-sized version of those pinpoint impression toys - walk into it, then walk around it and see your own face in pin form. Maybe it's stuff you could see at a local science center, but you can see tigers and gorillas at your local zoo and AK still puts the Disney "plus" touches on it. And it's sure better than seeing a empty, closed-off room that's become nothing more than a place to cool off and charge your phone!
World Showcase I would mostly leave alone. Well, I'd bring back Maelstrom and update the film at the end. The Stave church updates can stay because they actually talk about and show Norwegian historical artifacts. But the Frozen ride can go to DHS where they've put all the other Frozen madness. I'd also update Impressions de France - I like it, but it's so 80s, it hurts. That's it.
I actually really hate the food booths and it irritates me that they've spread into Flower & Garden as well. Five dollars for a single two-bite taco - you've got to me kidding me! But I get that many folks love them, so we either skip those times of year or just walk on by the crazy lines on our way to something more appealing and less crowded.
