Is Ellen Degeneres father still living?

and if so, where is he? I have never heard her mention her father, although I know she is very close to her mother. I assume her father has passed away, but just curious.

DeGeneres was raised in Metairie, Louisiana, the daughter of Betty Jane DeGeneres (née Pfeffer), a speech therapist, and Elliott DeGeneres, an insurance agent.[1][2] She has one brother, Vance DeGeneres, who is a producer and musician. She is of French, English, German and Irish descent. DeGeneres was raised as a Christian Scientist until the age of thirteen. DeGeneres' parents filed for separation in 1973 and were divorced the following year. Shortly after, Betty Jane remarried Roy Gruessendorf, who worked as a salesman. Betty Jane and DeGeneres moved with Gruessendorf from the New Orleans area to Atlanta, Texas. Vance stayed with their birth father

I've never head her mention her father either. I hope it's not one of those situations where, being already physically & emotionally separated do to divorce, he also later disowned her for being gay.

I read part of Ellen's mother's autobiography once when I was at story time at the library with my kids. I'm pretty sure Ellen's father died at some point after the divorce. Most of the book was pretty boring, although Ellen's mom told me a lot more than I really wanted to know about her sex life.

She said that after her mother had breast cancer her stepfather abused her, telling her he had to "check" her She talked about it once when a therapist was on her show.

I forgot about Ellen's brother! He used to be on the Daily Show, and in a roundabout way, my son is named after him.
