Is Earl of Sandwich in DTD still open?

No demo yet. It was open last weekend.

ETA Open on May 4. Was told new location should be open by November. Not sure how factual that is.

So Earl is closing up shop?
They are relocating. I think the plan is for them to move to the food truck temporarily until their new building is completed. Then the current location (old Le Brea) can close so that they can start working on rebuilding it for Porto's.

Both the old, permanent location and the food truck are currently open. Permits were recently filed for demolition of the old building along with some of the ticket booths nearby, so their days are numbered.

Note that the food truck is on the other end of DtD, near the old ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe.

I was at Downtown Disney at lunch today and construction was moving along swiftly on the new location.

EOS will close their currently location in DTD tomorrow, November 8.

The construction of Portos is supposed to include taking down two of the ticket booths. Earlier this week, Disneyland closed all four ticket booths on that side of the esplanade and moved all ticket sales to the lost and found window near the picnic tables and esplanade lockers.

Weird to me to do it on a Saturday. Why not keep it open through the weekend? I for one will miss this location. It is great to be able to go there and grab a Holiday Turkey Sandwich to take back to the park. The new location, especially the temporary "trailer" location is just not as convenient.

Likely because there is a lot of work to do to clear out the inside. I wasn't there today but apparently the Tavern is already closed.
I am sure there is but will 2 days really make that much of a difference? I predict that it will either sit empty with no work or be demoed and still no work done on the re-building (for Porto's) until Spring or later.

I'm quite certain that the structure won't be built for many months. This is a big project, including both the La Brea Bakery/EOS building and the esplanade. Tortilla Joes started being demolished in February and there is still no new construction.

Which further makes me question the closing of Earl's.

I understand that things take time. In a former job we signed a lease for a building and it took 8 months before we could open because everything took way longer than it should to retro-fit the space to our needs.
