You mentioned not going to Disney every year....you can buy a small amount of points on the resale market and travel whenever it suits. Interestingly enough, another client of mine is a Marriott rep (one of the top salesmen) and he bought 75 points from me originally for the exact reasons you have mentioned.
He has now contacted me to add more.

It is kind of yes and no with us. We joined
I think that they underestimated the amount of people that would be using the resorts at wdw as opposed to going elsewhere {concierge service, trade offs ,etc.} We voiced our complaints prior to 2000 regarding not being able to get into okw and were told that once the free park ticket benefit was gone, not as many people would be going to okw and they would be going to other
And just a passing thought. and although I'll be long gone by then, I wonder what is going to happen after the year 2042 when everyones membership expires. Ibet they never gave much thought to that since they won't be around either.
