Is Duffy bear sold at Downtown Disney?

Dh will be at Downtown Disney Wednesday night. We are wondering if he might be able to pick up 2 Duffy bears for our kids. Anyone know if World of Disney sells the bears?

We saw them in various sizes and they had various outfits to choose from when we were there the last week of January. DD3 has one so we didn't check the prices.

Duffy is the bear Minnie gave Mickey as he left on a ship. She gave him the bear so he wouldn't be lonely.

My kids know the character because of the Disneyland Kinect Adventures game.

Never heard of The boy band???

My youngest daughter adores Duffy. The best place to find his merchandise is right by his meet and greet at Paradise Pier, across from Ariel's Grotto.

There is also a table of Duffy items at World of Disney, back by the stuffed animals. Also look for seasonal ones towards the holiday display.

We purchased a very cute Valentine Cupid Duffy there last month.

To be fair, the character Duffy, including his name, actually came from the company that has a license to run Disney parks in Japan (not Disney itself), where he is incredibly popular. (The design was based on, if not identical to, the US's Disney Bear, which was solely an attempt to put a Mickey design on a bear and sell it.)

Then Disney gave him some new clothes and brought him to the US (and Paris and Hong Kong), thinking he'd be as successful as he is in Japan. Hasn't happened yet in the states. Originally Disney made a big point that you could only get him at DCA and Epcot, so the original question was a fair one. But he's been available in all the parks for quite a while now.

So yes, Duffy's a money-grab by Disney in the US, but unlike many (all?) of Disney's other attempts to sell merchandise, he was a beloved Japanese character first.

Just reporting back that DH was able to pick up two Duffy Bears last night at World of Disney!

There will be tears of joy at our house tomorrow, once DH gets home!

Ooh, let me know how that game is. I want it. My kids, okay, my 3 yo doesn't care, but my 7 yo wants it, and hubby says we can get it, but it's gotten bad reviews.

DS (almost 9) and DD (6) love the Disneyland game. I think it is a lot of fun to watch too! It has elements of some of the other Kinect games such as Adventures and Dance Central. This is our favorite Kinect

Glad you were able to pick up a couple of Duffy's. A couple of months ago people on this board were predicting a quick end to BABWS as Duffy sales were introduced to the US. Duffy sales just haven't been what Disney has expected and judging by my trip to BABWS on Sunday, it hasn't hurt their sales one little bit.

I really fail to understand the hype.
