Is DTD a "must do"on an average length trip (week long) with 3 kids?

our family went in december, mainly because we had tickets to cirque. we had our best quick service meal of the trip at wolfgang puck express. there were lots of barriers up and you could see change was afoot. the custom tshirt shop was neat, especially if with a group or celebrating an event. not sure if that exists in the parks?

it was a bit of a calmer, wander around and check things out kinda day. we are not big shoppers and my kids had their own $. that took what could have been the worst part of the holiday (i waant that) and totally eliminated it. "do you want to spend your money on it?" was asked and over half the time, they didn't want it that badly any more!!!

While we love DTD my suggestion would be to spend your last day in a park but move that free day into the middle of you week. Down time is never a bad thing. Spend that free day sleeping in, hanging at the pool and then if you want, go to DTD at some point. You could plan to go for dinner and then just stroll about after.

This is exactly what I want to do but I'm having trouble scheduling! The first 4 days of my trip are supposed to be very low crowds. The last three days...Saturday Sunday and Monday...are supposed to be very high crowds because of Thanksgiving week. I wanted to take Saturday off but it happens to be the only day I could get a pirates league reservation and a BOG dinner reservation so looks like I'm heading into MK that very crowded staurday. I feel like i want to take advantage of the low crowd dates. So I got park tix every day and was thinking we just won't rush around...sleep in some days, take 1/2 day off by pool one or 2 days etc.
thanks for the DTD insight!
