Is Disney World ready for a fifth theme park?

If Epcot undergoes an expansion (not a hotel -- an actual expansion) so vast it eats into the parking lot, I will eat this Web site.

But I would not know how to eat a website? thinking of how to do it reminds me of when the Vet told me to get a urine sample from the cat. I was completely confused on how to do it.

In all seriousness the land is there and from what i can tell it is another large patch of unused land at Epcot

Whoooops. I did not know this was a big topic. I was just pondering the crowds during the times that are supposed to be slow.

This would be a nice topic to revisit.

Need? No, not for many reasons. But it's pretty easy to understand the desire for a fifth gate. People crave something new and different even if that money is better spent elsewhere.

Even now, I bet if you polled people on whether they think the $3 billion or so spent on DAK should have instead been put into MK, EP and DHS, an overwhelming majority would favor DAK.

Well, I thought it was generally agreed that DAK was the park in most need of expansion (a/k/a actually being finished) in the first place, though the popular choice for that was "Beastly Kingdom", not "Avatar-land".

I'm not questioning the need for more attractions at DAK. I was simply commenting on the innate appeal of new park(s.)

All of the arguments we make against a fifth park today could have been applied to WDW's fourth gate 15 years ago. MK, EP and DHS would be much better parks today if those hundreds-of-millions had been funneled to the existing gates. But the average WDW guest is apparently satisfied with DAK and DHS remaining half-day parks, and would love to see Disney put billions into what would certainly be ANOTHER half-day park.
