i am going with two teenagers who have declared that they dont want to spend all their time with us on the family holiday i have planned lol. well im trying to compromise with them as i want them with me in the park *** i dont want anyone to be left on their own so we need to stick together for that to happen *** ash wont be going on a lot and im not comfortable with leaving my own buggy outside a ride. so anyways they wanted to stay in disney village, maybe go to the cinema or the games arcade or just hang out but is it safe for them to stay for a couple of hours and then head back to the santa fe or is it asking for trouble? im just conscious that people let their guard down on holiday and with someone elses kid im not taking any chances. what do you think?

thanks

We don't like going out at nights at all in the UK.... We aren't into drinking and things so we find it all a bit too much... However, we loved going out for nights in the Disney Village.... Not threatening at all.... We saw loads of people about 18 years old going back to hotels together, perfectly safe..... However, if you really didn't feel comfortable when them walking back to the hotel at night, you could arrange to meet them near the enterance to the Village and walk back to the hotel together. Personally though, we found it really safe and non-threatening at all.

we took ds girlfriend on holiday to DLP with us last year and at the time they were both 15 and we created some guidelines at the outset of the trip, trying to make sure that we spent some time with them and they spent some time together in the park or in the village and it went really well. We would set off to the Park together in the morning, perhaps go on a couple of rides and then go separate ways and meet up for lunch and do stuff together until the parade and then separate again until tea time and then we'd pretty much stick together. We always had our evening meal in the village so they would eat with us and then go off and browse for a couple of hours or use the pool at the hotel and I have to say it worked really well. I was very nervous about letting them do their own thing but they had no problems whatsoever and they both felt safe and confident doing what they were doing whereas in this country we taxi them around rather than letting them use buses, etc etc just due to the way things are. I'm sure if you have some guidelines before you go things will be just fine while you're away. I also wouldn't worry too much about leaving your pushchair, we've left ours without any problems and on one occasion we even left a bag containing all our euros, passport, camcorder, etc all sitting on the pushchair without any problems ... not that I'd recommend this, hubby nearly had to get off IASW half way round due to me panicing when we realised what we had done ! Some people let their guard down like you say and I have to say it's awful when you see a child missing but as long as you're careful you shouldn't have any problems.

We've taken teens before, and none of us has felt threatened or unsafe in the Village. There are CMs in the background all the time (even if you dont notice them) and there are security people as well. It can get boisterous with local teens, but all good natured and have never seen any trouble. I dont think Disney attracts that kind of person anyway.

perfectly safe!!! I love it!

if I can go there on my own at midnight, then everyone can. I went to see the Fantillusion and the fireworks last July and it was past midnight when it all ended. I then walked through the Village on my own (will lots more people around me) and felt very safe.
