Word from backstage today was that the performers for Disney's Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! parade were told Mr. Potato Head and Smitty, a fuzzy worker monster from "Monsters Inc.," would be joining the parade.

Could this be an acknowledgment that the on-the-cheap parade, which debuted Jan. 16, just isn't cutting it?

Disney often tinkers with parades and takes guest comments into consideration -- Internet reaction to the Countdown to Fun parade has been particularly negative.

The Countdown to Fun parade replaced Block Party Bash, a lengthy "street party" that boasted acrobatics, an army of dancers, guest participation, surprise character appearances and a volley of soft Nerf balls at the end for guests to take home.

Countdown to Fun pales in comparison. A simple character procession, it rolls by guests in about five minutes.

While adding a few miscellaneous characters won't address what's fundamentally wrong with the parade, in my opinion, at least it shows Disney is aware of dissatisfaction over its shortcomings

calling that poor excuse for a parade "on the cheap" is being nice

I haven't seen it yet, but I had high hopes. I suppose I was expecting something closer to what we provide our guests here at Magic. Granted, I dont expect much out of HS when it comes to parades.

Thats a little harsh, While Block Party Bash wasn't technically a parade it was still awesome to watch.

MK has had its fair share of misses when it comes to parades.

I know. Perhaps I just don't 'get' Hollywood Studios. The best way to sum up my feelings towards it is as if instead of George Lucas, someone else had directed the 2nd Star Wars movie. It would still be Star Wars, but it wouldn't feel like the others did.

Hollywood Studios just feels like it isn't Disney when compared to the depth and immersion of Magic, Epcot and Animal.

On Topic though, a fellow cast member from Parade Audience Control (PAC) went and saw Countdown yesterday and said it wasn't bad. :confused3

I bet to them it's great, that whole 3 minutes of audience control isn't very difficult!
