Don't flame me, but we all created this monster...now we have to learn to live with it. Everyone has been posting for months about how hot and heavy they were for the 2010 intineraries; once the announcement date was publicized, everyone was already getting their strategy lined up on what time to start calling and book. Disney would be crazy to *not* take advantage of such a willing group of fans.
Please don't take this the wrong way -- I'm just as guilty as everyone else and was really excited at the thought of crusing in Europe w/DCL, but now I'm extremely disappointed (and bitter!). If you honestly feel the prices are way too high then let your wallet do the talking and book with another cruiseline or make alternate plans. If those ships set sail and aren't filled to capacity -- DCL will get the message.![]()
how do you get the prices? I try to get some quotes on DCL site but I can't? Did you get those price with a TA or by calling? Thanks.
I actually think we all might be suprised, and all the cruises besides maybe the transatlantic cruises will sell pretty good. I know they cost a lot but there are a lot of peoplein the world who are rich, then there are those that save for that once in a lifetime trip, then those who save for trips and don't go on trips every year. I always seem to forget much more people in the world cruise DCL and don't post on the disboards.![]()

To me, 170 sq. feet is a decent-sized cabin. That's what I booked for my Celebrity TA cruise next year - in an inside cabin. Our OV cabin on Monarch of the Seas was 122 sq. ft. - but somehow my daughter and I survived. On my one and only Disney cruise. my mom and I had a handicap-accessible cat. 6 cabin. That thing was huge - as cruise ship cabins go. It had a very large balcony, too - which didn't get much use by us.

I think you're exactly right. Many people aren't concerned about the pricing at all for these cruises and they'll be the ones filling them up. Just cause it seems like a lot to me (and clearly others), it's nothing to many people.
We're still going, despite the price, as DCL is the best cruise line for us at the moment. We actually prefer Celebrity as adult cruisers, but with 2 small kids, we need the Clubs, food, and entertainment that DCL offers. Just makes life so much easier when we know our kids can be entertained when we're on the ship, that we can eat a meal without them if we desire, that many shows are geared towards them, etc. Those were things that lacked on Celebrity and Princess when we sailed with them so we're sticking with Disney right now no matter what they're charging.
HAL also sails from 2 different ports so, airfare would definitely be higher with the one way fares.
I think Disney was on crack when they decided to send their only 7 night ship to Europe in 2010. Most people can't afford the flight let alone the crazy prices.
I respectfully disagree with the "most people" comment.
The prices are exactly what people in Europe can and will pay ... the US$ is weak against the pound and euro and so far Disney haven't really tapped the European market. I may be wrong but I seem to remember hearing they didn't even advertise the Med cruises last time in Europe - imagine if they did!?
When you consider how many British and Europeans have been traveling to the US and Disney for years then its probably a very reasonable cost for them and a lot closer to home.
We were at WDW in September and have never seen/heard that many English and other European language speakers there before. Just because the US economy is struggling at the moment, its not the case everywhere (or not the quite the same extent) and I think Disney have realised this and are doing what they can to ensure their balance sheet continues to look healthy.
