What's so depressing? Is Disney going bankrupt or broke? No. Is there big issues with the parks? Yes. It says a lot when I see thread after thread from Disney loyalists opting for Universal instead.

Analysts disagree with you and rate Disney stock a buy here, here, and here. But it's your money, you do what you want with it. *shrug*

The problem with analyst's buy rating is that they are saying whether that stock will go up or down in the long term as compared to itself. They are not saying it's the BEST option for your money, or even a great option in that sector. I even said that eventually Disney will recover. It's not going out of business. it's a safe buy, yes.

But I believe it's going to flounder for a bit. They have some serious public recovery to do - which they will in time. But if I were looking to invest some money in recovery stocks, Disney would not be the best option right now. There are far safer stocks that are better positioned in today's market.

Are you going to lose money buying Disney? I expect it's still going to be bearish for a little longer. Depends how long their public feud goes on, who they hire to replace Morrell, if they get their act together and hire some staff, and what they do with G+, not to mention if they can get some content on D+ to drive subscription numbers back up. In time though it will recover.

Bottom line - I do not and never did say it was not a buy. I just said it's not the best place to invest right now.

I’ve seen you specifically have this opinion a few times and I’m just curious why? I mean we’ve been hearing about this big universal take over for over a decade now. I’ve never seen you expand on this idea, it’s almost coming off as trolling at this point.

Universal is a smaller park than Disney it’s most visited park is probably Japan and it’s less visited than most Disney parks in the world. So what exactly are you basing this on? It has to be personal opinion and you have to know that you and this website make up a very very very insignificant margin of visitors.

I second this vote. I haven’t analyzed it from each business’s perspective but as a consumer, I would love the quality of Apple paired with Disney story telling.

It's some what personal opinion but at the same time this is the first time I have seen this many people hate on Disney. A lot of it stems from how they have been treating their guests. IMO Epic Universe will be the game changer for Universal. That will make them a 4-5 day visit instead of the 2-3 days it is now.

Disney will always survive cause of all the parks out there they are the best for those with littles.

I think that Apple would be a terrible choice. In everything that they do they make it difficult to function unless you stick with Apple. For a make believe example they would take genie+and make it only available to people with iPhones.

Do not invest in Disney - nor any blue chip, mature company stock.

But if one is looking for a slow but steady long term investment - which is what blue chip stocks tend to be - it’s not a bad time to invest in Disney, with the reasons laid out in this recent analysis published by Forbes.

March quarter results will be released on May 11, so there will be more real world numbers then.

All I am saying is that Disney has a LOT of headwinds right now. There are other blue chips companies in the world you know. Some of them are better positions RIGHT NOW.
