Is Disney cruise for young ones?

This will be our first Disney trip with the kids age 4 and 2.

The kids camp looks like a lot of fun for the 4 yr old, but can anyone give me feedback on the Flounders Reef Nursery?

The cruise operator could not provide definitive hours that they are open (except for evenings). Anyone know if/when its open during the day? We are planning on the 4 day cruise in November.

Last and most basic question, is a disney cruise even a good idea with a 2 yr old? I'm depending on you experts out there, and thanks for your help!

Post your questions on the Cruise Line Board and I'm sure you'll get many helpful replies.

Yes, the kids will love it!

Have a wonderful time. :)

as the other poster said, you will get far better feedbackon the dcl boards. but from personal experience, your kids will love it!! We did not use Flounders as DS was 2 1/2 and potty trained - fully potty-independant, so he was able to go to the kids club with his older brother, then almost 6. flounders is open during the day and its best to get ressies before hand to ensure you get the time and coverage you want. i think you are also only alotted x number of hours during the cruise.... pricey but well worth the alone time!!! and they are soooo great with the kids and so safe!! You get a beeper so that the ship/nursery is always in contact with you should a problem/situation come up... We never had any issues and plan to go again in a year or so and will be using Flounders. DS#3 will only be about 18month and wont squeekin this time to Oceaneers. Good luck and I hope you and your family had as much fun as my family did!! :wizard:

We went in 06 with DD2.5 and DD2.5. DH not big on anyone baby sitting our kids but a little known secret is that the kids are welcome at any young age in the area for potty trained kids if the parents stay with them. I forget the name of the area but there were some toys, drawing activities and a slide/tree house and we went there after dinner most nights and let them run around for a while.

And yes, your kids are the perfect ages!

we've used Flounder's on three cruises...(luckily our upcoming our DD's will be too old!!) They are great but the hours are usually evenings and then early am to 1 or 2 on port days.
They have characters come in and take polaroids with the kids, we ended up with a large envelope full of goodies on the last night.

We went on the 4 day when our youngest DD was 18 months. If you are looking for wonderful family time then it is great, we had an awesome time. If you are looking for a place where they will watch your kids all day so you can have adult time then 2 is too young. You are limited to the amount of time in Flounders.

We thought the 4 day was a perfect length for the first cruise. We got a day room across the street from the Atlantis so the kids could swim (DD could not go in the pools on the cruise). We upgraded at port to a suite for not much money and the extra space was awesome (off season cruise so upgrades were cheap). We relaxed and took breaks just like at WDW. Castaway Cay was amazing and the best part of the cruise. I say go and have fun!

We agree!! Castaway Cay was THE BEST part of the trip!! We did a Land and Sea adventure the first time out - 3 days at Disney World and 4 on DCL. It was our first cruise ever and certainly not our last!! We will be sure to cruise again on a 7 nighter and a 4 again without a doubt!!!
