is discovery cove worth the bucks

My DS age 12 has already swam with dolphins in Cozumel. He did the Royal Swim which meant doing 3 tricks with the dolphins. Will discovery cove be worth the extra money we will end up spending. How much time do you get with dolphins and do they do anytricks .

Also can he do the dolphin activities by himself or will and adult need to go in the water with him.

My husband and I thought it was worth the money. I would even pay to go again, without the swim. We had an Amazing day.

We went last year, it's a fantastic experience never to be forgotten. Our group (6) had 30 minutes in total with Cindy the dolphin. The water was very cold and deep so we were unable to do the swim. Though, the CM was very attentive to me and my son who is autistic, he instructed Cindy to us on our own, which was a very special peaceful moment for us, and Joshua was able to stroke her for several minutes. The pictures were great too. Joshua who is unable to speak, tried to speak afterwards.

While i loved the experience I have to admit i was a little disappointed...My first dolphin swim was in the Keys (this was a 2hour long swim, one dolphin for every guest …..so we got a lot of interaction time) at DC everything was done in a group setting (8people), the only thing i got to do alone is be pulled back by the dolphin once (took exactly 5 sec.)...then they took us out of the pool and tried to get us to buy all sorts of picture packages......so compared to my previous interaction it wasn’t worth the money,

but the park is beautiful and there are so many other things there that make it worth while...Next time i'm skipping the dolphins and playing in the stingray pool

Its the whole day that I think makes it worth the money(which is a lot if you're taking a family). The Dolphin swimm is great,but it is short. But,being able to swim with sting rays and snorkel is a blast!! Also, floating down the
"river" is really relaxing!! Oh yeah,its worth it!!!!

They didn't do this at Discovery Cove but does anyone know what a foot push off is? I know other places that have Dolphin interactions sometimes advertise a foot push off. What's that?????

A foot push off is normally when the dolphins nose is on the persons feet and pushes them through the pool (just like it sounds)....but just like in the shows

We did one day at DC with my 11yr old niece & we all agreed that DC was our favorite day of the whole trip. If your DS has already experienced the dolphin swim he might not get as big of a "charge" out of the repeat experience. Each group has approximately 5-6 people that get to split the dolphin swim time. As a group you have the dolphin do a few tricks. One on one time is a little shorter with photo shoots & a short actual swim.

Having said that, even without the dolphin swim, DC was a great park. The food was fabulous, the ray pool & coral reef were great & the aviary was a lot of fun.

Being an avid diver myself, I would pay to visit this park again in a heartbeat.
