Is DHS worth spending a day at right now?

It can be both. It's really easy to knock out all 5 rides in ~2 hours in the morning but if you go to see Beauty & the Beast, Indiana Jones, etc. then it can easily be a full day's worth.

My biggest problem is how bad the restaurant options are. There's always the Boardwalk nearby though.

I think it is always going to be a mixed review on what is "worth" it to people. For us, DHS has always been one of our favorite parks and we generally plan 2 full days there each trip. On the reverse, we are not big fans of AK. I think with all of the shows, rides, m&g's and just overall atmosphere at DHS I would never want to cut short a day there. I think you just need to really look at what is available and decide if there is enough to entertain you for a good chunk of the day. I also vote for Frozen Sing Along...hysterical!! I think I liked it better than my Frozen-obsessed 9 year old!

DHS is one I scratch my head over all the time. When I am pre-planning I always look things over and decide that there really isn't much we want to do there and I usually decide to skip the park entirely or plan to do rope drop and spend maybe, at most, two hours there doing the few attractions that we really like. But then when we get there somehow we get sucked into DHS and we end up spending at least one whole day there and often go back at least another evening. By now you would think I know better but in planning our upcoming trips, I am having the same issue. Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, and Rock n Roller Coaster are the only things really calling to me so planning a full day doesn't make sense . . . . . .

We didn't find it to be a full day..but our adult son did. Really depends what you enjoy. After Toy Story Mania and a little walking around we left for Disney Springs. Our son had a blast though and stayed..he loved the Star Wars stuff.

The park is a full day park if you haven't been there ever (or haven't been there in a while). I go every trip and still find stuff to fill the day. This last trip, the Launch Bay and Star Wars shows were new to us, so that filled a big portion of our morning, but going with an infant and 4 year old, only 3 of the 5 rides were even an option for us.
So, I purposely planned hopping to MK after lunch. It "felt" less crowded at MK then DHS.

The problem is that the "space" of the park has shrunk considerably and thus it just feels crowded since the walking areas of the park were cut in half.

The other problem is that some people just like rides. Because everyone gets Fast Passes for the rides, and because shows don't interest a lot of people, the timing doesn't work or because they are "one and done" for a lot of repeat guests, the rides queues are just long. So there is only FIVE rides and you can only get a Fast Pass for one of the big ones (RnR, TSMM, GMR), so thus the lines for those 5 rides can always be pretty long (for example, I had to wait 30+ minutes to get on Toy Story Midway Mania DURING a morning Extra Magic Hour). But everything else felt not very crowded, the meet and greets, the Launch Bay, restaurants.

Losing Lights, Motor Action and the Backlot tour and the Streets of America and the Honey I shrunk the Playground, while "not much" still shrinks the capacity of the park into a small area and very few attractions.

i'm glad I read this thread...just added the Frozen sing-a-long to our list for this year. It was something I hadn't even considered, but a couple of the posts in this thread have piqued my interest.
