Hi, thinking about adding DDP to our reservation. We don't always have room for dessert after having lunch or dinner. Can we get dessert later in the day or evening after having our lunch or dinner at a TS or CS?

Thanks a bunch :thumbsup2

Rarely. In a few cases, at the occasional counter service restaurant, where you intend to order ice cream for dessert, you may be able to get some type of authorization from the restaurant allowing you to go back to that location later that day and get your dessert.
Table service, no. You can probably get an entire (non-spoilable) dessert to go if you're too full, but you can't go back later.

While having the Disney Dining Plan allows you to have an appetizer, and entree, and a dessert, it doesn't require you to.

The only place we found (used DDP 3 times now) that allowed us to come back later for desserts were TL and BB. We got a token at TL and showed our receipt at BB (they put a little tear in it after you received dessert)-this was last Sept. At every place else (TS or CS) we got our desserts when we got our meal. We did take back quite a few desserts to our room. We learned that if we didn't share a TS, we usually were too full for dessert. It makes a great late night snack, or breakfast! The CS desserts are easy to take along as, most of them, are already packaged. I will say that some of them we threw away-not worth the calories. :confused3 This trip it'll be a little harder to take things along as we won't have a stroller for carrying things :sad2:

Hope this helps, happy dining!

Most CS have there dessert in a plastic container (at least the one's we went to). So we often took it with us. They are sealed very good, except once opened they don't seal again really good. We learned that the hard way. We often took CS desserts back to the resort and the kids ate them the next day while in another park for snack instead of using a SC. They like saving those for candy at the end of the night while shopping in the stores.:yay: :yay:

Thanks a bunch :thumbsup2 So, when getting your dessert for lunch or dinner at a CS, what is considered a dessert, I never noticed while at CS?

Usually dessert is of the plastic cup-o-cake variety like you get at KFC. Pretty moist, and better tasting than most. And at some TS you can get a milkshake to go for dessert and sip away while you walk.

I always took Dh's dessert to go. He isnt a dessert person and I couldnt let a piece of cobbler or something go uneaten! It was our late night snack on the balcony as DD went to sleep.

Several times we would get dessert to go. There is nothing like eating apple pie or chocolate cake for breakfast with a good cup of coffee.

This time we'll have 3 adults and 2 kids on the DDP and will probably do the same thing and pack some desserts up for later. I may even do this with the kids fruit salads as I'm sure they will get sick of ice-cream sundaes pretty quick.

I plan on taking my oversized plastic sandwich containers that I purchased in Target's dollar section for my pack, that way if their container is too big/bulky, mine will work better (and , of course, those zip locks as well.) MMMM....chocolate cake while watching fastasmic....can you think of anything better?

We saved a few of the carrot cake desserts and had them for breakfast the next day. (without 90% of the frosting) Carrot cake was the only one I could eat for breakfast though. As much as I love chocolate, it's not breakfast to me. (never could get on the chocolate chip muffin bandwagon either)

At the T/S meals I'd usually try to get something lighter like sherbet. I seldom got a flour based dessert because they are so heavy and I was always pretty stuffed by then.

Love the idea of getting a shake to go!

Not sure if you still can but we got fresh fruit cups for dessert at most CS. They made great breakfast or snacks.
