Is Delta still using SONG planes

To the best of my knowledge, all the 'old' Song planes are now being used for the cross country routes. The flights down the eastern seaboard are the regular Delta planes.
 
That was indeed their plan. I think there are still a few non-cross-country flights, here and there, that happen to use the old Song aircraft, but not many.
 
Hmm... I think those were the 737-800s - anybody know for sure? It's naturally not on SeatGuru anymore.

If so, there's at least one flight next week using that plane.
 

For what it's worth, in August we had ex-song planes both directions between Bradley and Orlando.
They were supposed to be gone from the shorter flights and moved to the cross country routes by that point, so maybe we just got lucky.
 
Delta's Song brand used only Boeing 757 aircraft. Delta converted some (but not all) of their 757 aircraft to the Song configuration when they launched Song. When the Song brand was eliminated, the plan was to reassign the former Song aircraft to longer-range routes, freeing some of Delta's wide-body aircraft for new international service.

If a flight shows that it will be operated by a 757, there's a chance it could be a former Song aircraft. But it could also be a Delta aircraft that was never used for Song.

If a flight shows that it will be operated by a aircraft in the 737 or MD80 families, then there's no chance it will be a former Song aircraft.
 
Also note that some longer-range plans include adding seat-back television service to more aircraft in the fleet, so even non-former-Song aircraft may have seat-back televisions at some point in the future.
 
By mid next year all flights over 1500 miles will have tv's onboard. Eventually some 737-800's and most 757's will have PTV's.

Here's a recent (Nov. 14) press release from Delta Air Lines. I've highlighted the news about the status of the Song fleet in bold red. The news about iPod connectivity is a great. I really like the idea of being able to watch a movie on my iPod on the seat-back monitor.

ATLANTA, Nov. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines is synching up with Apple to give air travelers even more entertainment options when they fly with new, in-flight iPod connectivity that will allow customers to listen to their complete music library, view their video content and keep their iPods charged -- all on the airline's state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system that boasts industry-leading audio and video quality.

Delta is one of the first airlines to make in-flight iPod connectivity available to its customers beginning in mid-2007 and expects to equip its entire domestic transcontinental fleet with the audio/video integration plus charging functionality by 2008. This includes more than 100 Boeing 737-800, 757-200, 767-300 and 767-400 aircraft. Panasonic Avionics Corporation will provide all in-flight iPod offering integration services for the airline.

This announcement follows the airline's fall launch of a new, two-class domestic transcontinental product offering state-of-the-art, digital in-flight entertainment -- with first-run and popular classic movies; live, satellite television; a wide-ranging selection of music and artists; and, a suite of video games -- all available on demand at every passenger's seat. By next week, Delta will complete the modification of all 48 of the former Song Boeing 757s into the airline's new standard in domestic transcontinental flying that will be available to all passengers traveling on Delta flights over four hours (or more than 1,750 miles). This includes flights from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, San Diego, and Seattle by 2008. This spring, Delta also began updating its international business-class offering, BusinessElite(r), with a similar, industry-leading entertainment system on its current fleet of 75 aircraft flying international routes for completion by next summer.

Hmm...I could think of a hundred more things that Delta could improve rather then inflight entertainment...like arriving ON TIME!!! :sad2:
 
Unfortunately, money has less direct effect on arriving on-time.
