Is December SSR the best purchase plan?

We do WDW every 18-months give or take. Typical times we travel are mid to late December, early January, March (spring break), and summer. We’re not particularly interested in SSR, but would be ok staying there. We want to try out different resorts (we like variety) and would typically plan our trips 6-7 months out, so the 11-month window is unlikely to benefit us. We’ll probably book 1 bedrooms for the most part; occasionally studios if available, and 2 bedrooms if we’re bringing extended family (probably every other trip). Looking at around 150 points for 5-7 night trips every 18 months, with the intention of banking/borrowing. Should we be looking at SSR contracts with Dec use year, or some other resort/use year? Thanks!

If you will only book 7 months out and will be happy with what's left over, buy the resort with the least expensive cost and dues. You will have better luck since you want 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom dedicated units. Don't expect 2 bedroom lock offs to be available.

December to January for marathon week end you would probably be limited to SSR, OKW (not near hospitality house) and possibly AKV. Everything else would need a lot of luck. For trips from January after the marathon, March and the summery you'll be able to try around most of the othe resorts.

1 beds Oct to Dec you will have some luck, but at worst will have to stay OKW, SSR and AKV.
Given yiur pattern and 1 bed, you are ideal candidates for SSR, as long as you don't mind possibly staying on your Xmas trip.

Thank you! I think we would hope for AKV for our occasional Christmas trips but would be ok with OKW or SSR. Sept to mid-Dec are out for us travel wise, so we would not be dealing with DVC “high” season.

We recently purchased a September UY at SSR and although it doesn't effect us that much travelwise, I find it's really hard to find another contract to add on with the same UY. December seems like its more common.
