Is DDP for us?

I am just wondering if the DDP will be too much food for us. My DH and I have been to Disney in the past and we normally eat breakfast in the room prior to leaving for the parks. For lunch we normally snack on foods that I bring into the park and then we might eat at Counter Service for dinner. We will normally eat about two to three TS during the week.

This trip we thought about going all out and doing the DDP but we are having second thoughts. We think this might be too much food and we might be miserable trying to walk through the parks eating all the time.

I would just like your opinions. We might have guests during our stay as well and we know they may enjoy eating some real good food and this will be their first time coming to the parks. So tell me what you guys think. I would appreciate it!!:goodvibes

Last year we did the DDP and we did NOT find ourselves eating all the time. We don't think it's too much food at all.

I really don't see how a CS meal, a snack, and a TS meal is too much food.

But if you don't plan on doing a TS each day, or at least Signature Dining to use up your TS credits, then the DDP is not for you.

We really liked the dining plan and didn't find it to be too much food. In the basic dining plan you get the daily counter service you like and a TS meal consisting of a buffet/all you care to eat meal or a entree, dessert and drink. The snack credits are nice to for a treat or add to a CS meal. If you think you'll have too many TS meal be sure to book something that uses 2TS credits. We did this with Narcoossee's last year and had by far our best meal of the week. We had lots of great meals, that was just the best.

As for guests, your dining plan credits are just for you, not to be shared with guests. So they will either need to also buy the plan or pay for whatever they order. You should alert your server before you order how the meals will be charged.

Good luck with the decision and enjoy your trip!

Well, we were not too sure if we would be too stuff to continue to do all that walking around the parks. Looking at it and comparing it to what we have done in the past, it looks like a lot of food. Thanks for your opinion!! :thumbsup2

I did know that they had to do their own plan but I wasn't sure if I should make them pay for the DDP if they stay with us. Thank you so much for your input!! I was planning our trip out for the meals and it just look like so much food. We will just have to walk extra to make sure we do not gain!!:goodvibes

Keep in mind that for the 2008 DDP you only get an entree, non-alcoholic beverage, and dessert.

No appetizer, and you now have to pay for gratuity.

It costs us about $30 for 2 Counter Service meals - we'd be stupid not to get the DDP. That gives us 2 Table Service meals and 2 snacks for about $46 more.

Typically, we eat a CS lunch around 11/11:30am, have a snack in the afternoon, and then eat a TS dinner around 7:30pm. That isn't a lot of food IMO.
