Is Coronavirus affecting your travel plans?

My SWA flights in a couple weeks went down $500 total. Does SWA do a credit for that? How do I do it?

Yes, Thank you and sorry. I knew it was a previous cruise on the same ship. I didn’t write it clearly. My point was more that I think cruises will be hit hard after this and I am glad I am not on one! And I feel for the current 21 passengers they think have it on that ship....as well as those that are asymptomatic and are stuck at sea.

Call SWA or go online and do a change

Go online and pull up your reservation. You can elect to "change" it but then select the same flights for cheaper. You will see that your count will be credited the difference.

Yeah my flights for Vegas on Easter Sunday coming back several days later is the same price as it has been for months.

SWA did have a sale recently.

Well an update to my post:

I checked this morning and they are the same price. Checked around dinner time and they were reduced.

Got $48 back for my husband's ticket ($24 each way) on a travel credit (and we were already using a travel credit for his ticket) and a little over 3,000 pts back total for my ticket.

When I checked there were only 2 seats left at the reduced price for our flight out and we got those last two seats. It's now back up to the price it was when we first booked. The flight back still shows the reduced price.

My e-mail from SWA says their sale ended yesterday..possible they extended it. Not every flight was a reduced amount when I checked our specific dates and destination though.

May I ask what the current take on this situation is in England? We're scheduled to fly to London in early May and then board the Regal Princess for 12 days. We've not considered cancelling yet but then again, I've also heard no specific mention of the UK in our news.
Well, that's that then, I guess. We received an e-mail from Princess today making a quite unprecedented offer: 100% future credit for anyone who wants to cancel for any reason, whether or not they have insurance. We very quickly discussed it with our travel companions and I was extremely surprised to hear how concerned both the husbands were about being stranded on a cruise ship and unable to get home and back to work. The writing was on the wall and we are cancelling our long-anticipated 25th Anniversary dream trip.

What's left to be seen is what other already-sunk expenses can be recouped, most specifically the airfare. The airline today announced a one-time no-fee change to any bookings made between March 5 & 21, but no relief for anything booked earlier. I also bought an insurance policy last week that I now no longer need. It had a 10-day Free Look clause and I spent several hours on hold this afternoon trying to notify them I wanted a refund; to no avail. The only other thing that won't be credited is the green fees for DH's special round of golf at St. Andrew's.

{{sigh}} I'm not even sure how I feel about all this yet.

Cases seem to be rising but I think it’s a result of more awareness and more testing. I’m not sure anything is actually changing or spreading more. I think it’s been here for months since I’ve known some people that had some bad respiratory bugs that tested negative for flu. We like to think we can control these things but who knows. Also Japan has a lot at stake with the Olympics in a few months so I can see them trying to do everything possible to make that happen.

The Grand Princess passengers will likely give a healthy bump to the total tally. Unbelievable how many who tested positive were crew members. No telling how many passengers were infected.

I wish the numbers were compiled a bit differently. Those who have contracted it from travel or a family member....also age and condition of those who have died. It might give a better snapshot of what is happening with the spread.

Trip planned for Maui in 5 days. Booked on refundable points, thank goodness. Hotel pkg would be $100 to change dates. We are still on the fence. I have up to 24 hours to cancel. We live in WA state, so there has been noticeable differences in daily life here. Only concern is trip interruptions on the return. We don't want to cancel!

I feel really bad for all the people who have worked so hard to plan and promote these conventions/conferences/trade shows that are being canceled! Yeah, it's disappointing not to be able to attend if it's something you've been looking forward to, but from the behind the scenes perspective it sucks! My company does the marketing for 2 huge buying shows every year, the next one is the first of April and I'm hoping that the last 6 months of work we've done for it won't be in vain! Until I did this myself I had no idea the amount of work that goes into pulling off a show like this!

I'm with a PP, the only way this will affect my travel plans is if I too get the $69 room rate email! :P
Oh man. I’m sorry. My good friend is an event planner and does really large events. She has one set for May in Vegas and they are trying to figure out what the client wants to do. An entire year’s worth of work... 😭😭

So I am trying to decide on how to use our travel funds, since they expire end of May. We can fly to D.C. for $80 out of pocket round trip! I need to go find some cheap hotels lol.

We weren’t flying anyway, but we just decided to go w/ the condo on our normal beach instead of a more touristy road trip for this June.

What is so interesting is I am in Germany and I believe we have now as of today 800 cases. But no deaths!! Yet. I was looking at a statistical graph in Germany kind of pops out as being an exception. So I think we really need more data because if you went off of Germany stats this virus is nothing. If you want off of Italian stats were screwed. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. This is why it’s so important to test and test and test so we’ll see what is that common number Michael feeling is there of been thousands and thousands of people walking around with this virus with no symtoms for months.would really like to see some more statistical details on why. I assume it’s the elderly that are actually in the hospitals but somehow they are still hanging on. I know in Italy one of the issues why their numbers are so high as they have a pretty high average age group. I know the German healthcare system is excellent but it’s nothing out of the ordinary, and we don’t treat differently at least that I know of.

not really a vacation person, I just like to go to Disneyland when I can. I usually don't plan much. frequently I may book hotel reservations on a week or two notice.

I am of two minds. I'm not necessarily worried about catching the virus, but by traveling I raise the risk of catching it and spreading it to others. so it is like a selfish act.

the other thought is that I usually stay at the same hotels, so it would be like supporting those businesses during a slump.

I'm dating myself pretty bad but the only 123 I know is (Lotus 123).
It was this dark, archaic muddy ugly thing that use to make my life horrible. I am thinking about making my next book, a horror story about it. Excel killed it, Thank God.

I remember Lotus123 before we switched to Excel at work. now that I'm retired I use Calc from OpenOffice.Org. much more affordable (free).

We did DC last April, and loved it! We picked the hotel chain where DH had points from work, so I'm no help there, but for stuff to do, I definitely recommend the National Zoo and the Monuments by Night tour!
